Guest guest
hi kathy and everyone that said nice words about my little injury here.... It actually happened very stupidly if that is a word..... I had a runner rug in my hallway that must have gotten bunched up a little and on Monday I was getting Logan ready for Pre-k and I couldn't find his shoes.... I was in a hurry as we were running late so I went to look in the spare bedroom to see if he had stuck them in there for some reason and I didn't turn on the hall light... I tripped over the rug and caught myself - outside if the wrist first on the decorative molding around the door... it was pretty stupid. I was going fast and I hit it so hard my knee actually put a dent/crack in the door!! my hubby has to try to fix that. I hit that little pointy bone on the outside of my arm and it swelled to about the size of an egg... I figured it was just a bruise and later that day my mom came by to visit w/ Logan and she freaked out and forced me go to the Urgent Care clinic w/ her. They took some x-ray and sure enough there was a small fracture on the outside bone and a very deep contusion. the next day I took off the temp cast and my whole wrist was almost black!! it looked pretty gross. I think the majority of the pain is due to the bruising and they also think I sprained my wrist in the process as it hurts to move my fingers, etc. Anyways - that is the jist of it.... i moved the rug, by the way!! It actually looks much better now and a lot of the swelling and bruising is gone - it is just pretty sore. luckily I am left handed and I hurt the right although I am finding out just how hard it is to only have one arm.... I cannot imagine losing an arm or having to wear a permanent cast for 3 months as some breaks go.... I was very lucky they said I could keep the removable one as it wasn't a clean break so I can take it off for a little while each day. thanks for the kind words everyone! love shari
Guest guest
Shari, I am so sorry you had this mishap! At least, as you said, you can take off your temporary cast and get a little relief from having to wear that daily. I hope you heal quickly!
