Hi Molly,

She sounds absolutely charming with a wonderful bedside manner! :0 At least she believes silicone implants can cause autoimmune disease, that’s a great start! I used to hate tests too but learned that they are the key to me getting well. Now I love tests!! Maybe you can change your mindset? Best of luck!! :)

Kenda

Well I saw the new rheumatologist. She asked if I was in litigation and I said no. I did say I

was considering the settlement. She then promptly told me she does not like lawyers

because they 'ruined' her profession. She asked me what I and my husband did. Um.

Maybe I should have taken the 5th. We don't much like doctors either, so we're even.

Harumph. I said I used to be an engineer, & was that any better? She said she didn't like

them either. Charming doctor.

After we got off on that great start, she told me that she does believe that silicone

implants can cause autoimmune illnesses. That was a little better. Then she tsked and

tsked and told me I had all these rashes that I never even noticed. She thinks I have

'overlap' collagen vascular disease, lupus and polymyositis (whatever that is...I am

googling it). She poked and prodded, and concluded that I do have fibromyalgia, as well.

She said I am just an autoimmune package.

I guess that is better than a lawyer.

So she has me set up to take 13 different tests, and lung xrays. I will stay on plaquenil,

and meds I am taking now. SHe loaded me up with booklets on lupus and fibromyalgia.

And insisted that she weigh me. That was enough to make me hate her forever.

I don't want to take more tests. I am sick of tests. Of all shape size and form.

Other than that, she is fine, and I agreed to an appointment in 3 weeks.

You are absolutely right about the mindset. I KNOW that viewing things as a

positive and

not negative is the key, and it is something I can consciously change. Then I

start feeling

like a wimpy Pollyanna and miss my cynicsm. Okay, I am half teasing. Humor is

also my

defense when I am anxious. ;-)

Molly,

I'll have computer access, but little time. . .

I hope you don't mind! I'm sitting here laughing at

your experience with the doctor . . . My hubby is an

engineer! . . . I can tell you why people don't like

them! They can drive you nutz dotting every " i " and

crossing every " t " . . .Taking nothing forgranted. Of

course, who wants a bridge that " almost " stays up, or

a plane that " almost " flys?

I'm glad to hear your doctor does accept the concept

that silicone causes illness! . . . I'm curious about

how lawyers " ruined " their profession. As I see it,

they are doing a pretty good job of it without any

help!

Hugs,

Rogene

Rogene,

I'm so glad you enjoyed my rather warped humor. ;-)

" As I see it, they are doing a pretty good job of it without any help! "

AMEN!! AMEN!! I decided to keep my mouth shut, however. I was afraid if I

opened it I

wouldn't shut up...like 'if doctors spent half as much time worrying about their

patients as

they do lawsuits, there would be far fewer lawsuits.'

What kind of engineer is your hubby? Yes, engineers can be errr, well,

persnickety, and

incredibly boring. Im an " EE " (Electrical engineer), but I left that career in

1999, to begin a

second career...and the rest is, well, an 'autoimmune package'. Hopefully,

that will be

temporary, and I will get back on my feet. I feel I have come a long way in a

relatively

short time.

The only reason I am going back to this doc is becasue she does seem to

understand

silicone issues and she is clearly very competent -- if not personality

challenged. lol
