Guest guest
Hi , They are not supposed to have soda - they're just very bad girls! JK! Seriously there's a big difference between sipping at a half a can of warn flat diet soda and snorking back 3 or 4 cans a day of non-diet soda. Some people love their soda - I for one could always take it or leave it. So I don't really miss it. The only problem I have is when eating out. I don't like iced tea (In fact I HATE it!) and diet soda is the only other non-alcoholic beverage available. So I end up with water, which I don't care for very much either. Avoid soda if you can, the gas will blow up your pouch and make you feel very uncomfortable. Carol Re: Re: What did everyone eat today?-! You all can have soda??? My surgeon said no soda for LIFE!!! Guest guest
My surgeon was asked this very question in an open support group meeting. He admitted that he would like all of us to avoid drinking carbonated caffinated beverages but that it was unlikely we would comply with that request. So he is somewhat non pushy when it comes to carbonation. He is very strict with saying we are not to drink alcohol, and carb loaded drinks which I dont. He also said that it is a wive's tale that carbonated beverages cause the pouch/stomach to enlarge. He simply states that the fake sugars in them can stimulate appetites and that if we are drinking them we aren't drinking water or eating because they tend to fill a person up. I need an appetite stimulant anyway. He wants me to slow down my weight loss. How can I do that if I can't have sugar because I dump horribly? The truth is..there has to be a happy medium. I can not emotionally survive on a water and tea life long diet. I can't stand water by itself as it is, I don't like crystal light or protein drinks...for teh last 6 months ALL I have had is tea and water. I will say tho, that when I drink the carbonated drinks, I get gas and it serves me right! LOL I get very bloated from the carbonation. I also do not count the diet pepsi in my fluid totals so I have to drink more in a day because of it. But yes..Im a very bad girl *wink wink* one of the reasons my boyfriend loves me! HA! Guest guest
Ooops - I just realized that " blow up " was a back choice of words by me. Please don't forget that I am a foreigner and American English is my second language! I didn't mean that soda will destroy or enlarge the pouch, just that it will fill it with gas! Kat, did the doc. make any suggestions about how to slow down your weight loss? Carol Re: What did everyone eat today?-! My surgeon was asked this very question in an open support group meeting. Guest guest
> > Kat, did the doc. make any suggestions about how to slow down your > weight loss? > > Carol Yes he told me to stop exercising (something I had already stopped doing because Im working) and to eat more carbs LOL I also gave me hell for being a label reader. I told him I would ALWAYS be label reader and until he DUMPED once in his lifetime good, he would not understand what it is like. I label read to avoid sugar. He said Im not getting in enough calories in a day...but frankly I feel like Im eating all day long! So Im supposed to decrease my caloric need, and increase my calories. Ive managed to maintain 168 now for about a week. Honestly its very creepy to try and " slow it down " ..what happens if I get very good at it and it just stops? LOL I have very good eating habits now days. Its very hard to change my successful weight loss way of thinking. Kat
Guest guest
Wow - I find it really strange that a doctor would tell you to stop exercising - what about your heart and all the other things that are supposed to benefit from exercise? Guest guest
Hi again Robyn, I may have to do that with the emails. I'm swamped every morning. Just this morning, Sunday, I've been at this computer for like 3 hours. I think my husband is going to pull it out of the wall in a moment. LOL I do enjoy reading everyone's messages though even if I don't respond to them all.
