Guest guest
Do you guys find that it's really hard to trust a doc anymore. I've heard so much BS in the past 3 years I don't know who to trust. So tell me guys, what do you think... On Monday I got a bite on my left foot, in the arch. The wound is rather big, it itches EXTREMELY bad and I have red streaks shooting off from the wound. Monday night while I was sleeping my other foot, between the toes, starts itching EXTRMEMLY bad. In the morning I notice another bite. My foot is red and swollen with a red streak working it's way up my leg. I have a bump on my big toes that looks like a big red grape. I finally hobble over to the docs and she says it's fungus....what. I say no, I think somehting bite me. She says I have a wound from who knows what and my fungus was able to get into my blood from the wound. Wouldn't I know if I have a fungus? Scabs? Lots of itching? Cracks between my toes? Something, anything.? I have cracks on my heals (probably from hypoT) but this is not a funus - even the doc agreed. Does this make sense to you guys. She says it's the HC lowering my immunity. Anybody with stories like this to share. Is this doc a quack or is it me? Robin

Guest guest
That means a lot Val...it means you don't think I'm crazy. She gave me cream (I think with HC) and anitbiotics. I cannot begin to tell some of the weird 'dx's' I have had - it still blows my mind. I would love to know where some of these people study. > > I think you need another doctor. Guest guest
>>She gave me cream (I think with HC) and antibiotics.<< Well right there it PROVES she doesn't know what she is doing! If it is caused by you taking HC why did she give you MORE of it? And antibiotics do NOT work on fungal infections. They kill bacteria not fungi. Did she give you oral antibiotics? You might try benedryl or calamine on it. But I think with th streaks I would be seeing a different doctor. Spider bites can be serious. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Thats a few good points. I actually think it might be a tick bite - pigeon tick not deer. I'm thinking I might call my thyroid doc, he's also an internist. But to tell you the truth, I'm not realy sure who I should be seeing. What kind of doc would be a specialists for bug bites? Guest guest
You shouldn't NEED a specialist! An internist should be fine. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Robin, this is EXACTLY what happened to me, 5 years ago. I was pregnant with my son. I was cleaning the chicken coop in my sandals, 2 months from deliverying, and I felt an OW, thought I was bit. Had a red mark and blister on my foot. i went in the house, cleaned it up, put some neosporin on there and wrapped it up. I was taking Synthroid at the time. My foot began to swell. I started getting more blisters. Then on the other foot. I went to the doctor, they had no idea what it was. Told me to just keep it wrapped and clean for now to avoid infection, due to pregnancy. THEN, I started developing toenail fungus (thick, yellowish toenails). I got so bad that both of my feet ballooned up, I had blisters that would break open in to weeping ulcers on both feet, to the point I could barely walk. The heat drove it NUTS, and it itched so bad it was like having the worst poison ivy ever in your life. This has been going on for FIVE years. It is not a spider bite. ND and dermatologists have no idea what it is. If my feet are cold, it doesn't exacerbate,b ut if the ambient temperature is warm, or my feet get hot from wearing closed shoes/socks all day, or, if I increase the circulation in my feet by walking a lot (like going to a fair or event, where you walk all day), then my feet swell up like balloons, and start to blister and itch again, then the blisters break open and ooze. The closest thing I could find anywhere on the internet, to what this might be, is Chillblains. Chillblains are a circulation problem, where if your feet or hands get extremely cold, not quite frostbite, they get some sort of damage, so that when they warm up too fast, they get these blisters, etc. You can google Chillblains and see if this i what it is. Now, I'm wondering (I posted on the NTH a week or so ago about this), if the low circulation in my feet from being HypoT for so long, has caused Chillblains from lack of circulation. Guest guest
, It sounds a bit strange to me that you could get what appears to be a bit and that that would turn into chllblains. Is there a chance i was some other kind of bite, other than a spider. What you're going through doesn't sound like fun so I hope you find some answers. Have they checked your blood? A blood check for 'bites' is a completely different blood check - the docs need to be very specific. I went to a GP today - she's taking the necessary precatuions in the evet it was a tick bite. She said, that's not fungus, that's an infection. She'll check my blood in a few weeks (after a course of antibiotics) to see if lime disease is an issue. Guest guest
I doubt that a bite would last symptomatically for five years! And spread from one foot to the other, it was only on one foot, then a few months later started on the other foot. I have also been tested for Lyme, and it was negative. I've been bit by ticks before (live in the country, have 3.5 acres of wooded property, horses, chickens, goats, dogs, etc.) and this is nothing like a tick bite, at all, which is just one small slightly raised, hard swelling with an obvious puncture in the center. Let us know how you make out! Best, Handcrafted Jewelry ~ http://www.ChestnutHillDesigns.comCurly Horse Rescue ~ http://www.CurlyRescue.com ~Age is a case of mind over matter. Guest guest
I'm really glad for you it's not lyme. But it certainly does sound very strange what you're going through. I wish I could be of more help. Have you tried other type of docs - what type, I haven't a clue. Is there a specialist for chillblain? Guest guest
Nobody hears of of chillblains anymore, its sort of an old-fashioned diagnosis. I've been to my GP, my ND, and a dermatologist. Best, Handcrafted Jewelry ~ http://www.ChestnutHillDesigns.comCurly Horse Rescue ~ http://www.CurlyRescue.com ~Age is a case of mind over matter.
