Guest guest
I'm going to try by giving miso soup a try for breakfast. It is also soy based but fermented soy which I understand to be even less of an issue/or none at all with the thyroid. I would love to hear more from you guys about other suggestions esp. for breakfast. I usauly don't eat breakfast (BIG no no) so I need to learn. I don't want just eggs every morning and cereal probably isn't so great either. And man can only drink so much miso for breakfast. I've been trying to take a close look at my diet and realize I eat very little protein - and what little I do eat is almost always at dinner. Well duh - no wonder I feel like crap - so thanks for bringing this to my full attention. BTW - Nicola did you get and HC from super doc or and earlier appointment? Guest guest
I love oatmeal with just a dab of maple syrup (the real stuff!) or Cream of wheat unless you are avoiding grains... I also like breakfast steaks but can't afford them all the time! -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Good for looking at your diet - it can help a lot. I end up having eggs and bacon most mornings, or my own muesli which I make with almonds, brazil nuts, dried apple and cinnamon. For lunch I have a big raw salad with either chicken or fish, then I have my protein shake at 4pm. For dinner I have chicken / fish and cooked vegetables. It is a very boring diet, but it works for the hypoglycaemia. No sugar, no carbs. And yes, I do feel sorry for myself ( No, haven't phoned for earlier appt as my second batch of Isocort arrived, giving me some respite. I'm just going to take as much as I need of it. Today I took 12 pellets. I have a heavy cold which is making me feel particularly terrible at the moment, so maybe I can reduce the dose when it's gone. My hypothyroid symptoms are getting worse and worse (understandably as I'm not on any meds) and so today I decided to take matters into my own hands and start on a 1/4 grain of Thyroid S. After a couple of hours I started having hot flushes which are still going on now and I feel very lethargic and slightly irritable. Is this good / bad / normal? Guest guest
Nicola, it is normal. It is because your body is not used to having any direct T3 and this symptoms usually fades as your system adapts to having it again. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
So do you think I should keep going at 1/4 of a grain a day for a bit? Just got fed up of waiting for this appt, and I think I will end up on it anyway. Surely such a low dose isn't going to do any harm? > > Nicola, it is normal. Guest guest
>>Surely such a low dose isn't going to do any harm?<< Thyroid is a VERY safe medicine. It is a hormone that is natural to your body and will not hurt it. I think you should just continue on it. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
That sounds soooooooo good. But....isn't that a no no for hypoglycemia? Breakfast steaks - you are a lush. I'm working on a low GI diet sto see if this helps. Robin > > I love oatmeal with just a dab of maple syrup (the real stuff!) or Cream > of wheat unless you are avoiding grains... Guest guest
Actually simple sugars have never bothered me, I am lucky I guess. Now if I put sugar in my coffee and drink more than a cup in the morning I shake like a vibrator for three hours unless i eat protein to level it out. but i usually don;t drink over my one cup of coffee in the mornings. I find I can eat most sugars including fruits if I eat protein with it! I often have a cup of applesauce with a string cheese for mid morning snack at work. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Nicola, that sounds good but I worry about to many eggs. The diet isn't helping just yet but I've read it takes about 2 weeks to really help...sigh. However, I've also read that hypoG causes sleep problems so I had a protien snack before bed - it helped. Regarding you response to thyroidS, I have that all the time...hummmmm. I've been bed ridden the last four days but I'm blaming it on hypoG. Guest guest
Thanks ,Yes it does helpf if I have a lot of protein, but I was concerned about having too much protein. Even though I'd like to eventually lose weight, I'm not concerning myself with it right now. Do you think just have it as needed and don't worry about amounts? Isn't a lot of meat hard on the system too? I thought it was hard on the digestive system and liver 'cos there's so much more work to do.I'm behind and catching up, to the person that complained of hypoglycemiasymptoms -- that is my biggest indicator of my adrenal status. When I'mhaving those sugar cravings, headaches, shakyness, etc., then I need adrenalsupport. To avoid this, take your adrenal meds on time, and eat many smallprotein meals during the day. Snack on things like cheese, peanut butterand other good quality proteins. Yes, yo uget the sugar cravings becauseyour blood sugar has crashed. But you can avoid those crashes by eatingplenty of protein, and snacks through the day. Forget worrying abot weight, snacking on good quality protein is not going to cause you to gain weight, but you WILL pass out when your blood sugar drops like this, it is extremelydangerous and not something to mess around with! I quite literally crawledinto my house once when I was having an attack outside in the yard, and Icollapsed in front of the refrigerator and started stuffing cheese in mymouth as fast as I could. Within 10 minutes I was fine.Best,Handcrafted Jewelry ~ http://www.ChestnutHillDesigns.comCurly Horse Rescue ~ http://www.CurlyRescue.com
Guest guest
I don't really know about if too much protein would cause problems, but if you need it, you need it, but that's my opinion. Your body is screaming for it, because the adrenals need protein. I've been eating a protein heavy diet for years and haven't found any side-effects except for the fact that I'm controlling my headaches, dizzyness and shakes! I really think people are wired differently and need different types of food. I could never, ever survive more than a day or two on a vegetarian diet, and as a matter of fact, I'm certain that I don't eat enough vegetables at all and I try very hard to eat them, but I find that by the time I get the protein and carbs that my body needs, I'm about out of room for anything else. Guest guest
I have been eating fairly high protein for about 10 years now., It is how I feel best. Not that I avoid other foods, I just eat what I crave and theta is mostly meat and dairy. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
,I found the same thing that once I've eaten a lot of meat there's nor room for vegetables :-) So, I eat salad/veggies before or at the same time as meat. I find I feel much much better if I'm having salad and veggies as well, keeps everything running better.I don't really know about if too much protein would cause problems, but if you need it, you need it, but that's my opinion.
