use of 'group' in medical rehab units

My Medical Director and I are in conflict about what therapy must be

provided when a patient is in an acute rehab setting. He says a minimum of 3

hours(either PT or OT), one to one with the provider. Any ST, Psych or O & P

services would be above and beyond that minimum 3 hours. I say the therapy

time can be a combination of one:one and 'group' time (e.g. two patients

overlapped, or a true group setting with 2 - 4 patients with like dx/goals),

usually split between OT & PT, but if well supported by an assessment of the

patient's deficits could also include ST. I will need names of

places/resources to cite if I am going to convince him !

I would appreciate knowing the practice pattern utilized in your facility.

Thanks!
