Guest guest
" Mama T " . She owned the local skating rink and for some reason, took me under her wing when I started skating there when I was 4. She rejected the rest of my family (said they were crazy and she didn't believe I came from them, actually). She loved me and scolded me and watched over me and joked with me every weekend when I skated, and started me working (volunteer) at the rink when I was 14, so I was there 30 or 40 hours every week then. I went to the motorcross races with her and her husband when I was 16 and helped them watch the corners for accidents (they worked the ambulance). I was 'her Leslye " and I never doubted that Mama T. loved me and would defend me the way a tiger defends her cubs. In many ways, she saved my life. She died some 25 years ago, but in my heart, she lives forever. SHE was my mama. -Leslye maparise17 wrote: I just wanted to say hello, and say I have been so busy with life, that I haven't been posting. This journey is still so very tough, the fleas are always circling and biting at us. I wanted to start a new post....since Memorial Day is about remembering, lets remember someone (other then nada and fada) that was a positive influence on us. I want to remember my grandmother,Nan. She was nada's mother. She was a wonderful woman and helped me to discover the beauty of the simple things in life. Nada never had time for fun and games. My Nan though, would read to me, plant flowers, bake cakes, make mud pies and take walks with me...you know the sweet simple pleasures a young child would enjoy. My Nan helped keep my inner child alive. So even though my Nan is gone, a part of her remains alive in inside of me. I see in many ways I based my own parenting skills on how my Nan treated me. I thank God everyday I didn't base my parenting skills on how my nada treated me. Thanks for listening!! :-) Malinda --------------------------------- Yahoo! oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. Guest guest
I had many teachers over the years who treated me with kindness and respect and sometimes I would spend whole lunch hours talking to them. They listened to me talk about random stuff, and were it not for them, I would have never felt " heard " by an adult. -Deanna
