Hello All...

I know this is unrelated---however my husband is experiencing a new symptom and

I am not sure if this is related to his liver disease..  Seems like we were

watching the Sunday Morning Show when he experienced very bright light along

with black dots or lines, along with a headache..  I gave him ibuprofen and

turned TV off, and after a time it went away.  Well,  we were eating lunch and

resumed the taped program and it happened again.  Does anyone have an answer or

has their loved one gone thru a similar incident?  Darn ths always seems to

happen on weekends when the Dr's office is closed!

He has had a rough week and I know this is a minor bump in the road.  Just

trying to keep him comfortable, it seems to be the only thing we have control of

these days.

Thanks for any assistance.

Phyllis

My best to you Bobby, I know this too will pass.  Wish you a speedy recovery.  I

too agree with you regarding ER experiences.  I do not beleive they think much

of cirrossis patients..you know, " they brought this on themselves " which of

course isn't always true...anyway, we have a good hospital and doctors, so we

try to " suck it up " .  Hang in there Bobby...we all love you.

Hi Phyllis,

I don't know if that is related to liver disease or not, but I used

to get that kind of thing too. I always had migraines and flashes of

light would appear mostly when my eyes were closed, though, and my

head (my eye area) hurt like everything. No pain reliever would

help. I would have to lay down in a quiet, dark room and sleep for

hours to get over it. I don't get those bad headaches anymore. I

sometimes wondered if they were caused from my Hepatitis C because

that causes headaches. We will see when I finish treatment, if I

have fewer headaches. I already do have fewer and much less severe

now anyway. Sorry for rambling, and sorry I can't be of much help.

Thanks Barby!  You don't know how many times I've prayed for the same thing!!!!

After I got my first pacer, my sister made me sticker for Christmas that said

" Hooray!  I pooped in the potty! " !!!!  Everyone laughed till we cried when I

opened my package!!!!  I have never had a blockage, but I have had to have an ER

administered enema to get it out.  Lost 12 pounds that afternoon, and that's no

lie, it's the absolute truth!!!  Because of the paralysis issue, I have what is

known as psuedo-sbstruction.  I'm not really obstructed, but because the

motility is so bad, my colon thinks it is obstructed and refuses to empty.  The

pacer doesn't cure that, but it helps it ohhhhh so much.  I will be soooo happy

when I get the new one implanted!

That reminds me of right after my transplant. They said I was like a

newborn baby with functions starting to work for the first time. The

first time I pooped, all the nurses, my husband, and my parents who

were all there cheered, " Yay, she pooped! " ...LOL

Phyllis, that sounds an awful lot like a migraine. My daughter gets them. They

manifest with strange audio and visual distortions and sometimes make her

partially blind, and nauseated. We had a running back here in Denver, Terrel

, who led the Denver Broncos to a superbowl win, and that day he suffered

his worst ever migraine. They tried a new drug on him, and it worked. I have

an elevated level iof toxins including nitric oxide, which is causing a

condition related to the liver disease called hepato-pulmonary syndrome. Nitric

oxide opens our blood vessels, and causes oxygen to fail to stick to the faster

rushing by red blood cells in the lungs, mostly because the dilated blood

vessels are too big in diameter to reach the blood in the back of the vessel,

and also because of the increase in speed. This can cause headaches too. It does

for me. The classic symptoms of elevated nitric oxide are stuffy nose, frontal

headache, spontaneous

erections, ( viagra was developed after this nitric oxide-blood vessel dilation

thing was discovered) . I think the nitrates from bologna can work just like

viagra, if you eat enough. My problem is just always too much nitric oxide. I

have shortness of breath, and sleep with oxygen.

long life, old age, everything good-Apache prayer

trying to keep him comfortable, it seems to be the only thing we have control of

these days.

Thanks for any assistance.

So glad you are with us again. Sometimes I wonder about Yahoo and

the things that happen on it. Not complaining, though, since they

are really good to have a group like this and at no cost at all.

Hope you are doing good.

When I first started ot poop, I would say " I'm a big girl now! " .  The family

thought my mental capacities were still off.......I thought it was funny.

That reminds me of right after my transplant. They said I was like a

newborn baby with functions starting to work for the first time. The

first time I pooped, all the nurses, my husband, and my parents who

were all there cheered, " Yay, she pooped! " ...LOL

I have to share this story. :) My boyfriend fell out of a tree and

broke his rib during a big ice storm we had here about a year ago.

Anyway, he was on heavy duty pain pills but was on the mend pretty

good. He called me at work and said he had to go to ER because he was

feeling terrible! He had been constipated for awhile because of the

pain pills but was taking stool softener etc. to relieve his problem.

I was getting worried about him. I rushed home to take him to ER. We

got there and were just about to walk in the door and nature decided

to call at that very moment. He ran to the bathroom in ER and came

out and we left cause he was fine after that. It was pretty humorous

at the time.
