Guest guest
Thank you . I am stuck w the famous one piece pjs from carter's, kids place, etc (size 7 bfor my 5yo boy) because he takes off all 2 pieces and stays naked all night..... W due consequences. This one pz pjs are ALL cooked full of flame retardant. UUGGGHHH!TksIsaEnviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelDate: Wed, 06 Jan 2010 20:57:16 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >Subject: Re: How to get rid of antimony in clothing? Boiling them in a big pot with soap every day will reduce it over time. Not sure if it eliminates it totally though.I used to have to boil my son's clothes to wash out the shea-butter that was used treat his whole body skin condition. I was warned not to do it to his pajamas because it would destroy the flame retardant properties.Hahahaha, like that would help. His PJ's were saturated in oil and would have gone up like a blowtorch! I imagine you would need to do the boiling outside, because the antimony would be vaporized in the steam. I'd already switched to organic fibers long before, so it wasn't an issue.>> Is there a way to clean clothes from this crap? Guest guest
If they are cotton you could boil them with the only consequence being the loss of the elasticity around the wrists and ankles. Not sure about the safety of boiling polyester though - it is technically a plastic.... > > > > Is there a way to clean clothes from this crap? Guest guest
Arghhh - polyester. Have you considered having a tailor custom make the PJ's in organic cotton? Eco Sprouts.... Whoops - earthquake! > > > > > > Is there a way to clean clothes from this crap? Guest guest
Sorry - that was a bit out of context. Just had a little quake and for some reason in my excitement I felt the need to send before taking further action. Ahhh - california..... no damage, just a 4.2. Anyway I was having difficulty getting organic cotton school uniform clothes and I had some made buy Eco Sprout. I just checked the website and it seems to be different. Perhaps they were bought out. Anyway - they don't have PJ's but you could have them custom made from scratch. Or buy Hanna or Garden Kids organic two piece and pay someone local to turn them into one piece using the carters zipper. I'd do anything to avoid antimony in the sleeping environment..... > > > > > > > > Is there a way to clean clothes from this crap? Guest guest
LOL!!!! I share your experience w earthquakes, here in Mexico we are used to them too. I am kind of a masochist, I like the feeling of earth moving, as long as it doesn't get out of control...Thank you for your input, l will look for someone to make his pjs and slowly throw away all that he has now. I have reason to believe his undressing from sleepwear is related to some kind of sixth sense telling him to take that off, because he doesn't do anything similar w his normal cotton clothes during the day.....BlessingsIsa Enviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelDate: Thu, 07 Jan 2010 18:36:25 -0000To: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >Subject: Re: How to get rid of antimony in clothing? Guest guest
Isa Just a thought here. I used to purchase organic cotton longjohns (underwear with no chemicals) If you were to find some Henley style cotton shirts with snaps or buttons half way down the neck.....couldn't you sew those to a pair of cotton long johns and have a non toxic one piece? LOL!!!! I share your experience w earthquakes, here in Mexico we are used to them too. Guest guest
Well, polyester doesn't breathe at all, so at night the heat from his sleeping body could actually be causing some off-gassing that he can smell or feel on his skin. Someone bought me a " snuggie " blanket and one time I fell asleep on the couch wrapped up in it. Woke up feeling hot and sticky with strange scent wafting out from the folds. This was after it was well washed a number of times. Once he's in cotton PJ's, perhaps you might find he eventually drops the habit of undressing in the middle of the night. You'd still need to have an all-in-one until then though, unless he's toilet trained. If you are in mexico I'm sure you can find someone who would do a great job - all the best seamstresses in my area are mexican. My son still strips at night sometimes, but he doesn't have bladder control problems so it's not an issue. He used to do it ALL the time as a toddler though and pee in the bed. What a pain! Come to think of it he was probably in carters polyester footie pajamas at that time.... Perhaps it was an instinctual self preservation thing? The quake thing was funny, all of silicon valley must have paused there for a while - even the servers at Yahoo. I sent it at 10.09am before the shaking stopped and I just noticed that it didn't post till 10.20. It does feel like a nice foot massage for a second, before the thump like a truck hitting the building. Impact is always my first thought even though I've lived in the area 20 years and was here for the '89 Loma Preita quake. But the wiring in my brain just doesn't immediately make the right connection. I always keep on with what I'm doing while my brain is thinking " What's happening? Truck hit the office building? Kangaroo trapped under the house? " Doh! > > > > > > > > > > Is there a way to clean clothes from this crap?
