Guest guest
Hello all-I figured an update is an order. Some of you may remember me posting a month or so ago about how to deal with frequent job loss that some with AS might experience. For those of you who don't, my husband was fired about 2 months ago- and it wasn't the first time he's been fired for what probably has to do with some of the more anti-social tendencies of AS (maybe!) I fluctuate as to whether I believe in higher beings but if there are some, they have a sense of humor.I'm happy to report that my husband now has a contract position- which may become full time- I'm hopeful- and he's doing sales and use tax for an organization that has to do with Autism. It would probably be inappropriate of me to go into detail as to which organization it is but... I believe they're one of the biggest Autism organizations out there. In his interview for the position, he was asked what he knew about autism or if he had any questions as there were many misconceptions about autism. When he disclosed to the interviewer that he's been suspected of having AS, the interviewer said not to worry and that there were people with AS working there. Also, that there was probably no better place for someone with AS to work because he would be understood there! I think my husband and I are both relieved- and excited Just thought I'd let you all know as I was so down about it before... and really, whatever divine beings may exist... they really really enjoy a good laugh. This is a laugh at our expense I'll take though :) (<---Is smiling so much while she types this good news!) Terri
