Guest guest
A mom from this group asked me what essential oils can help with reducing anxiety, calming the nerves, boosting immune system, and regulating emotion. I would like post what I found to share with the group. Lavender oil promotes the production of serotonin to calm nerves. Serotonin regulates sleep, mood, anxiety, and impulsiveness. Sufficient level of serotonin provides a feeling of wellbeing. Lavender is commonly used to enhance sleep quality and blood circulation. You can also mix Cedarwood oil with Lavender oil. Cedarwood promotes manufacturing melatonin from serotonin. We have experienced very good result (less hyperactivity and more language) with Lavender. I think that in my son's case, he has high tryptophan and is not able to convert it to serotonin efficiently. Lavender answers to this gap for him. ImmuPower can be applied on the skin or diffused for inhalation. This blend contains hyssop, mountain savory, cistus, ravensara, frankincense, oregano, clove, cumin, and idaho tansy. The blend is meant for using as maintenance oil to strengthen immune system and support the treatments against infections, inflammation, viruses, bacteria, fungus, and parasites. Young Living has a product called " Feelings " essential oil collection. It contains 6 essential oil blends to promote emotional clearance and self renewal: Valor, Harmony, Forgiveness, Present Time, Release, and Inner Child. When applying the oils via massage, one is supposed to go through these oils one by one, starting with Valor and ending with Valor. http://www.youngliving.us/pdfs/PIP_Feelings.pdf If interested, you can get the entire collection. Or, read through the descriptions of individual blends in the PDF to pick and choose some that are more appropriate to the emotional issues you try to address. I personally like Present Time oil. It helps to let go of the past and stay focus on the present moment. Some of these oils can be used straight. Others need to be diluted. You can follow the user guide: http://www.youngliving.us/pdfs/lit-essential_oils_users.pdf However, to use the oils on children, I personally prefer to always dilute them with vegetable oils such as olive or almond oil. To dilute, pour a quarter size of vegetable oil in a small plate or bowl and then drip in 1 - 3 drops of essential oil.
