Guest guest
That sounds like the Kolb I know. I can't see her recommending implants if she thinks it would be a danger. The protocol she uses is unique to her - I believe. I don't know for a fact, but women have told me that neither Feng nor Melmed suggest detoxing. I personally think it only makes sense. Many of the things she recommends I have found to be helpful. > Hi Val, > Just wanted to reassure you...Dr. Kolb definately will NOT recommend > implants for you, if you are ill from previous implants. Guest guest
I say more power to her also, Rogene. I have never had a doctor follow up like Dr. Kolb has, even by email. She is genuinely committed, of that I have no doubt. When I was at her clinic, I felt completely cared for - by every person on her staff. I felt safe, and that was something I was not accustomed to feeling with doctors. It was such an incredible relief, I can't begin to describe it. Dr. Kolb and Dr. Gnos (the anesthesiologist) are excellent doctors. And the nurse, the front desk people, her assistant Cheryl Woodie all work together to make a patient feel safe. It was very unusual. I had very little pain after surgery, probably because I had a pain pump. But everything went well. I had the stitches taken out here (In florida) by a PS my internist recommended. That PS said " Oh my, whoever did this did an excellent job " . We are very fortunate to have Dr. Kolb. I have never been very trusting of 'holistic' doctors, but I can say she changed my mind. I have started to learn some things too - like how bromelein helps with inflammation, and can be found in pineapple! IT's been (and is) a process, and I am still wary of many 'natural' or 'alternative' medicine that has no regulation. It is my upbringing, and background. But, I am now more suspicious of 'traditional' medicine. IT seems a lot more serious complications and death occur with 'traditional' medicine. And what regulation is there, that is meaningful? With THIS FDA? > Dr. Kolb has taken a lot of critism for her wholistic > approach to treating implant women . . . Guest guest
It would be wonderful, Rogene. I don't see it happening anytime soon, because there is too much money in patents and doctors are not trained in nutrition or holistic medicine. -- In , Rogene S <saxony01@y...> wrote: > Molly, > > Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a melding of > conventional and alternative medicine? . . . Guest guest
Detoxing is such a modern idea that totally works, I can't imagine any doctor not at least suggesting it! Especially with a foreign object in the body, which is always attempted to be broken down by the immune system and releasing man made chemicals into the body. I guess I feel that any doctor who isn't at least aware of the value of detoxing and/or supporting the body through an experience such as explantation has got their head in the sand, or isn't up to snuff on what they should be up to snuff on. The human body is a whole system, and not just parts that can be tweaked and messed with without affecting everything else. I have heard that Dr. Feng does suggest supplementation of certain things, so I don't think she is totally unaware of the value of supportive efforts to heal. However, I am disappointed in general with our medical professionals though. So many of them just have tunnel vision and biased minds against anything to do with natural therapies, which are, of course, the very things that have worked to get our health back. Guest guest
I have followed (and am again) DR. Kolb's 'protocol' - is that what you mean by detoxing? > > > Hi Val, > > > Just wanted to reassure you...Dr. Kolb definately will NOT > recommend > > > implants for you, if you are ill from previous implants. Guest guest
That sure is a good start! Detoxing involves three efforts: 1) to stop putting things in the body that are toxic, or increase burdens of toxicity (such as foods with lots of preservatives, dead foods such as white flour, white sugar products, sodas, tap water that is chlorine and/or flouride laden, meats laden with hormones and/or chemicals, using alot of chemically based hygiene products such as tanning lotions and creams, and just plain exposing yourself to toxic fumes and other noxious things.) 2)to help coax the body into dumping its toxic burden that is already there from many years of exposures to toxins in our daily life. This means taking steps that focus on cleansing the liver, cleansing the bowel, cleansing the kidneys, which are our main eliminative organs. If these are working in top shape, then they can continue to eliminate effectively and efficiently. 3) and finally to build up health with good, pure, nutrient dense foods that also cleanse the body, such as enzyme and vitamin/mineral rich juices and plant foods. To begin a detox program, I would look for some books that outline a step by step routine that you can implement. There are books out there specifically for that, such a 's " 7 Day Detox Miracle " or, for dieter's, Gittleman's " Fat Flush Plan " . These will give you some good ideas to get you started so that you can continue a program at your own pace on a regular basis. Detoxing is a lifestyle that you learn to implement in your life. Toxins abound daily. So, once you learn the basics of helping to cleanse these organs, you can implement ideas that continue to support them on a regular basis. For instance, you can do a bowel cleanse to start. This might involve doing some enemas or some high fiber eating to get things moving out and clearing the path. Dr. Bernard Jensen's book gives good ideas on this. Some of these programs are hard to follow. It takes tenacity. But once you've got that cleaned out, you will want to eat right to keep things moving along and avoid further toxicity. After you've done the bowel cleanse, then you can do a liver cleanse to get that in tip top shape. It is also called a liver flush, and there are several recipes for that. Pick one that you are comfortable with, (they are some intense ones or some very mild ones), and after you have done that, make sure you get on some supportive liver supplements such as milk thistle, alpha lipoic acid or N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC for short). Swedish bitters are also good for the liver. Herbal teas, such as dandelion, are great for the liver. Bitter herbs, like garlic and onion, are great liver supporters! There are things you can do for the kidneys--drink lots of water, take kidney cleansing herbs, such as uva ursi. There are things you can do for the lymph system....jump rope or use a mini trampoline, drink lots of water.. There are things you can do for the skin, another major eliminative organ....an infrared sauna is great to get your body sweating and dumping things through the skin. A rash or acne is your body's way of eliminating things through the skin when the other pathways aren't working as well. DRink lots of water! Exercise can get you breathing hard, which is good for detoxing the lungs. Have you ever noticed after alot of exertion that you begin coughing? This is your lungs clearing thing out. Deep breathing is important for the lungs! And drink lots of water! So, those are the main points. There are many, many things you can do to implement a detox program. The key is to take it a little at a time so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Step by step, day by day, you will begin to see results. And then it becomes a way of life. Supplements are important, but bad quality supplements can actually do more harm than good. So, I don't stress the supplements as much as the proper lifestyle of eating and taking care of the organs. But supplements do have their place, especially when we are sick and in need of extra boosts, and can't possibly get all the nutrients we need from our foods. I hope this helps you!
