Jeanne,

I have never done a liver cleanse using pills, but I do take herbs

designed to support the liver. Things like dandelion, milk thistle,

and of course, garlic.

There are pills you can buy that are designed to cleanse the liver.

The main idea with pills is ease of use. An internet search will

bring up several kinds. Here is one:

I can tell you that I feel much better when taking herbs. When I am

not, I feel kind of burdened, a feeling of yuckiness that makes me

think DETOX!

I think a lifelong committment to caring for our liver is

needed...paying attention to avoiding foods that burden the liver,

like high fat foods, and maybe adding at least one supplement daily

specifically for the liver, such as milk thistle.

Let us know if you try a specific product and if it helps you feel

better.

I use liver supplements (capsules) to cleanse and support my liver. I have never done one of the liquid cleanses some of the ladies here do. My ND told me that if you eat VERY healthfully and take the proper supplements for liver support, it isn’t necessary. The problem is most people don’t eat the way he recommends so cleanses and/or enemas are necessary for them.

Hi Lea and Jeanne,

Our livers do cleanse naturally, the problem is that unless you eat a very clean, organic diet, avoid pesticides, tobacco smoke, alcohol, caffeine and other toxins in our environment, our bodies cannot keep up, they weren’t designed to cleanse the garbage people put into them. Any person with health issues needs to cleanse/support their liver.

I'm so sorry that you are having liver problems. My liver was so bad at one point that we thought that I would die. I even had a tumor on my liver. Many years after explants my liver is fine, I did not do a liver cleanse. It is my opinion that our bodies will cleanse naturally; however, I'm sure that some of the ladies in this group might disagree with me.

Dr. Blais has told me that the longer that you have these devices in your body, the longer it will take to get well. I'm not well yet, but some things are getting better.

Honey, I hope that one of the other ladies will give you some advice on what to do about your liver problems.

Hi Lea,

You have medical reasons for not taking a lot of the supplements most women should be taking. All of us need to be detoxing, even when we feel great.

Honey, thank you. I know that you are correct, but I'm so afraid of everything. My doctors have warned me not to take certain medications like vitamin C and E and many other things, this has made me wonder why. I have always taken these two vitamins for years, it must be the blood thinners that they are worried about!

I have a question for all of you. My friend who has scleroderma has just called me and asked why her cheek bones are inflamed. She said that she has mixed connective disease as well. I would be happy if someone could help me with her question because she is afraid that she might go blind. The pain is just under her eyes on her cheekbones.
