Guest guest
Today was the worst Monday I have had in a long time. I am so upset, I need to vent. Earlier, my partner and I had a small " spat " over whether I told her about a funeral escort or not and the officer was late and the funeral director upset. Then we get a reckless driver call this afternoon on 9-1-1 on " Chaparral " . I don't even think or click, and dispatch our county guy to a subdivision out in the county. A few minutes later another deputy on duty screams over the air that he has been in an accident and I get his location, start EMS, put Air Life on stand by( by on scene directions) They are not available and we put Critical Care on stand by with an ETA of 30-35. The officer is transported by grnd to San because they can get there faster than air ambulance, this time. As it turns out, he is helping one deputy look for the driver and avoids a deer, hits a tree, sets off the air bag (thank God for that invention), and gets the wind knocked out of him pretty good, and is ok. He and the vehicle are ok. Why am I so upset? The damn call was actually in the city, not the county. I didn't even think about it being in the city. I am so sick about that. The screen even said the city name and all, but they are on the same side of the county and have the same phone prefixes and the locations aren't accurate or complete yet. We are fairly new on our 9-1-1 system. Anyway, new excuses, I didn't check and I am horrified and mortified about how this could have ended up because I wanted to get a non emergency caller off 9-1-1. I haven't messed up this bad, since being brand new, in a long time. I am just thankful it wasn't worse, yet sick about this. I am still trying to pick up my heart from him screaming on the radio like that. Geez, what a messed up Monday. Thanks for listening. Dana This is not the opinion of my Department, just my own, which probably stinks most of the time anyway. Doin' my duty with pride. =^!'!^= ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access!
