Hi ,

You’re right, it is “just TV” but it was also some unlucky woman’s body. A shame.

Kenda

Do any of you watch Nip/Tuck? Last night on the season premeire they

were performing an explant on a broken silicone implant and the doctor

was just pulling out long stringy handfuls of silicone gel. Then they

show him popping in a new implant into the breast. I started to cry.

It was just a bit more than I could take so soon after my own explant.

I yelled out that he wasn't performing an En Bloc procedure and he was

doing it all wrong. My husband had to calm me down and tell me it was

just TV. Of course it is just TV, but it's things like that that young

and vulnerable women are watching. I didn't think I would get choked

up over seeing an explant on TV like that, but I did. I guess

sometimes we don't realize how intensly emotional what we are going

through really is.

Well actually not. Nip/Tuck is drama so it wasn't real at all, but

they sure make it look real!

Oh, ok. I’ve never seen it, I’m glad it wasn’t a live person but it’s still pathetic.

Nip/Tuck is actually an anti-plastic surgery show. The

originator decided to do it after visiting a plastic

surgeon who tried to convince him that he needed a

major make-over.

The surgeries they do are not real! They are intended

to be as gross as possible to disuade people from

getting the surgeries. . . and to make the plastic

surgeons to look like jerks!

Please don't let the show bother you!

Hugs,

Rogene

There is an anti-implant show? That's one I will have to see - when is it and

on what

channel?

I hate the whole idea of 'make-over'. I find it appalling.

Nip/Tuck is not for the faint of heart! It's a VERY sexual drama that

is on FX network on Tuesday nights at 10pm. They have shown many

surgeries on the show, all done with prosthetics, but the main story

line is the life of the two surgeons. I have seen them do several

stories about implants, but had never seen them show a broken silicone

leak before. It was intense for me, but only because I had just gone

through my own 5 hours of explant/mastopexy. It's a good show, but be

prepared for a lot of sex and nudity.

Nip/Tuck is anti-plastic surgery . . . But they don't

come out and say that! . . . It's on the F/X cable

network. It's really raw!

Thanks for sharing that. I appreciate it! I would have felt that

way also if I had seen that episode. It is amazing that even seeing

these gross procedures don't seem to discourage women from seeking

implant surgery! Sometimes it feels like we are fighting a losing

battle with the fda. That is why it is so important to keep sharing

our stories.
