Guest guest
Hi Ladies, Some interesting information from Dr. Leu today. I asked about enemas and cleanses and why he hasn’t recommended them for me. He said that the typical American, eating the typical American diet, does need to do enemas or colonics but because I eat healthfully, it isn’t necessary for me. Also, a lot of the herbs I already take regularly are the primary ingredients in the “cleanses” that are being used. He said in effect, I am cleaning all the time. Makes sense. He does not recommend fasting for me at all, ever, because of my small size. So, if you are doing cleanses, be sure you are not overdoing it on certain herbs that could be duplicated in your daily supplements and cleanse. Also, my hormones have been an ongoing battle, trying to get them balanced. We have finally balanced my Progesterone, which is great because it has been at zero and off the charts high with supplementation. The problem is that my DHEA, Testosterone and Estradiol are elevated. Estradiol is a bad Estrogen. In order to bring down the Estradiol, he is giving me an Aromatase Inhibitor which will block Testosterone from converting into Estradiol. This should bring up my DHEA level as well as Testosterone. I didn’t realize this but it is actually good for a female to have elevated Testosterone, if she doesn’t develop acne, bitchiness or hairiness because it keeps our bones healthy, allows us to build muscle tone, aids in muscle repair and elevates our libido. For those of you with low libidos, see about a hormone panel to check your Testosterone level because it can be dangerous if it’s too low. Also, I had an Estrogen test that measures both good and bad Estrogen in the urine. The explanation sounded a lot to me like good and bad cholesterol. There are two types of Estrogen tested, 2-Hyroxyestrogens (2OHE) and 16-Hydroxyestrone (16HEI). This is the test that is a good test to see if you are at risk for breast cancer. Dr. Leu said it is very common for women with no risk factor other than a bad ratio to develop breast cancer. My good news was that even though my Estradiol is elevated, it isn’t being converted into a dangerous Estrogen. My ratio is 4.07, the reference for good health is 2.00 to 8.00, so Dr. Leu was ecstatic. Finally some good news. The name of the test is Estronex by Metametrix, if anyone is interested in checking their breast cancer risk. So, bottom line, check your supplement and cleanse ingredients to make sure they aren’t duplicated and harmful, Testosterone is a good thing when a bit high and check your risk for breast cancer. Guest guest
You’re welcome, Jen. I found it extremely interesting, especially the info on Estrogens and their link to breast cancer. The bad Estrogen can also cause inflammatory conditions, including arthritis. Kenda Very interesting Kenda! Thanks for sharing, I need to order another test from Dr Leu, I just keep putting it off.
