I thought all our women would enjoy the poem I wrote in 1992 and handed to

Dr. Kessler.

FDA HEARINGS

by Lynda Roth

I sit in this chair and the hours drag

As witness testify and surgeons brag

They've never had a case or so they say

Of immune problems in women they see

The lack of scientific data is clear

But some of the panel seem not to care

Women's bodies are fair game - guinea pigs all

If we have implants, our back's against the wall.

None of us know and the treatment's not clear

Can the body heal itself, or not, as we fear

There's no known way to get the silicone out

Our bodies are contaminated! It's wrong, we shout!

On deaf ears our pleas seem to fall

Safety's not seen as an issue. What gall!

It seems Dow Corning is having its way

You should see Rylee, its really his day.

I hope this panel will see the light

We're tired of these games for three days and two nights.

Come out in the light - see what's at stake

If not, we'll invite you to some woman's wake.

If Mentor's so great, then lets try this specter

Let Becker place one in his own pecker.

Get off your duffs, get out of your trance.

Ban these damn silicone breast implants.

Go ahead. I wrote this in about 20 minutes sitting at the 1992 hearings.
