Guest guest
Rogene, Thank-you for your wise info; I realize that nobody can make this decision for me, but it is nice to know that My husband's new insurance may cover me after a year. He will start his new job in November and we aren't sure what kind of insurance it will be. My current insurance, Medica, said I can make an appeal and have it expidited in 72 hours if a doctor acts on my behalf saying that the implants are affecting my health. I'll try that route, but I need to know if there are any more specific tests my rheumatologist could do? I've had all the usual tests. Thanks and God Bless, Carol
Guest guest
Carol, To my knowledge, there are no specific tests that conclusively prove that breast implants cause the women's health problems. . . . Rheumy's are the worst of the medical professions to admit that! Perhaps if you take some articles Dr. Blais has published, they will be able to see the link between the illnesses you have and your implants. The diagnoses you've had that have been reported to your insurance company may have a bearing on their decision. Patty, Lea or Ilena can probably help you with studies. Check our archives . . . I think there are some important studies there too. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Carol Have you had a Breast ultra sound? If they can prove that a valve is leaking/one has less fluid than was put in, etc., that may qualify you for coverage. I still say - even if you have to scrape it up somehow, to self-pay you can still appeal your ins company after they no longer cover you so long as your operation was done during the time they were covering you. that is exactly what I did... I was already 4-5 months into my new coverage when I finally won my appeal and they sent my $$ back. Something to think about if you don't want to affect your new insurance... good luck!! shari
