Guest guest
Note: forwarded message attached. You know what surprizes me is when you really look at Mentors web site they talk about the reports of secondary expsoure in the children, They talk about autoimmune problems, connective tissue disease, infections and the need for repeat surgeries. From what I am reading they are telling people that the implants aren't safe. I wish they would have had that information years ago but they didn't and if they did they didn't tell us. I notice that they discount most of the womens claims and in some cases they even have a study to show that the claims are false but at least they mention it and thats what we need to work with. The way I see it they're going to sell implants no matter what we do and women are going to continue to buy them wether they're dangerous or not. Have any of you ever tried to talk someone out of getting implants? It's almost immpossible! I have a close friend and people in " my own family " who got implants, last year! After everything the kids and I have been through, they went right in an got em' anyway. I'm not sure if she got the silicone injections, the silicone gel filled, the soy oil filled, the botox filled, the new ones, made from body fat and or stem cells, or the saline implants, but what does it matter? None of them are safe! Thats why I think we need to start thinking about insisting on participating in setting the criteria and restrictions for breast implants such as age limits, specific studies, study restrictions, consent forms, longterm research on the effects of the implants and research to determain the secondary effects on the children. I was watching the news a few weeks ago and there was a woman who was seriously injured after a " silicone injection party " . There is a large number of women today that are getting silicone gel from the store, injected directly into thier breasts, from strangers that are NOT even doctors and paying for it. Why? Because they can't afford the implants. I'm not sure what the solution is but I know putting silicone implants back on the market is a big mistake. I would like to go to the FDA town meeting in Florida is anyone from your group going? >From: Rogene S <saxony01@...> >Reply-SiliconeKids >SiliconeKids , >< > >Subject: RE: [siliconeKids] Talking to a Mentor rep - from Lana >Date: Thu, 18 Aug 2005 21:19:45 -0700 (PDT) > >Lana, > >I doubt that any of us are qualified to oversee the >development and testing of a breast implant . . . > >The chemistry is one thing, but what happens in a >woman's body, as an implant ages, is another. . .
