Thank you Caroline,

---------------------

I heard of this ladies work through the Annie

Appleseed site, which is not really for BI women, but

was started for breast cancer patients..with lot more

information on other things..Ann is an RN, a stalwart

advocate for women who have/had breast cancer..

is an advocate for getting out the word on the

necessity of MRI's for implanted women. I think

keeping her address and phone numbers handy might be

of help when we reply to ill women who have no

insurance and cannot afford an MRI.. Hope is

able to help them, and that the demand doesn't

overwhelm her...

Also--------- Mark your calendars to read her article

in penwomanship.com in October. Too bad the

Washington Post refused to print it -- but then they

have a whole lot of advertisements for plastic

surgeons --guess they don't want to lose those

$$$$$$$...

RE: your story

,

Thank you!!!

spf: Thanks for writing. I'm not sure what you

received. Did you receive my latest e-mail stating

that it appears penwomanship.com--the Web site and the

magazine--will in October publish my article about the

breast implant situation?

I live in Manassas, VA -- not all that far from you.

I have been sending Ann information on the breast

implant issue, thinking she was a BI information site.

spf: Do you mean Ann Fonfa?

She has written to me, explaining what she is all

about, and she forwarded your letter about the Post

refusing to print your article, as well as this one..

I do not know if you testified at the most recent

hearing at the FDA -- I met so many sisters there that

it is impossible for me to remember all..

spf: No, I am an individual, not with any

organization. And my expertise, such as it is, is not

in the FDA's reauthorizing the silicone gel-filled

implants but in the need to inform women that they

need MRIs to test these implants and what to do if

they are found to be ruptured.

Do you correspond with Zuckerman, who has been

such a dedicated leader in the fight against approval

by the FDA???

spf: I met Zuckerman May 6 when I was one of 10

women honored by the Natl Research Center for Women &

Families as a foremother of the women's movement.

Someone at my table told me was an expert re

breast implants. I contacted her thereafter and she

has been my mentor ever since. As has the wonderful

Dr. Middleton of San Diego, who established

the standards for MRIs to test breast implants.

Best to you,
