I'm waiting for my post full hysterectomy ZRT saliva labs to come in,

and in the meantime, I'm gaining bloated weight at a scary rate.

Craving sweets; E probably bottomed out. I'm not diabetic, and don't

normally crave sweets. I'm barely eating anyway; mastered the Zen of

eating many years ago. My basic diet is largely vegan, with 1200 mg

calcium citrate supplementation daily.

I've got some thyroid labs to do as ordered by my truly brilliant

thyroid doc (free T3, free T4, reverse T3), but my guts tell me I'm

not hypo.

I'm gut certain that low P in my unique metabolic mix has much if not

everything to do with my current aberrant weight gain.

Anyway, I'm waiting for my post-saliva test ob-gyn office visit. Any

ideas on how to stop or mitigate this crazy weight gain in the

meantime? I'm no stranger to excessive weight gain. Thanks! Time to

get my boys to the dentist.

I always found that when I took my temperature and it was 98 or below, and

I felt like c.r.a.p that meant I was still hypO. That's when the mere

action of breathing caused me to gain weight. This was when I was on

synthroid and no BHRT...

Don't know the answer, but I wish I did, on a more scientific level, about weight gain, peri-and post menopause.  I have always had to watch what I eat and it had gotten more difficult for my body to respond.  All I know is that weight gain is common, and happened to me, starting during peri-menopause when I'm sure my E & P were dropping.  I did not have labs done until 1 year after menopause, both E & P "menopause low".  Some posts attribute taking P to weight gain, (using BHRT), some say too low, some say E is the key.  This conflicting info kind of drives me crazy, so I take it with a grain of salt.I am using BHRT creams, E & P, and have successfully brought my levels up, feel good, menopause "symptoms" gone, and am cycling regularly. My weight has gone down, ever so slowly, but before using any BHRT, I couldn't lose at all, only gain, eating the same, which is very little, & very healthy. I am not using WP levels of hormones and am still able to achieve all this. MartyI'm waiting for my post full hysterectomy ZRT saliva labs to come in,and in the meantime, I'm gaining bloated weight at a scary rate.Craving sweets; E probably bottomed out. Thyroid...my basal body underarm temp and oral temp both used to

accurately reflect my thyroid status...not so anymore. I now find that

at ideal (symptom free-wise) Armour levels, basal and underarm temps

will hover in the 96.5-97.6 range. I remember a hypothyroid nurse )who

worked with Armour thyroid-taking patients) who told me that her temps

were no longer accurate indicators of thyroid status for her. As it

is, I can't even take 7.5. mcg Armour anymore without getting T3

jitters/palps. My doc switched me to low-dose levothyroid (as in 12.5

mcg once a week or less). I can't tolerate thyroid supplementation of

any kind anymore. Either I'm euthyroid, or surgical menopause-caused

hormone levels (and prior to full hysterectomy, vacillating hormone

levels period) and my thyroid hormone levels are doing the synergistic

" let me throw you even more out of balance " cha cha.

Ah, the action of breathing causing weight gain...I know it well:-).

My feeling is that if I need further thyroid supplementation, I won't

be able to determine what exactly I need in that regard until I have a

stable, comprehensive BHRT protocol worked out.

Blah, blah, blah...I don't know c.r.a.p. and I'm feeling really

frustrated (nothing new there) with being a strong person living in a

body that loves functioning on the statistical far end of the spectrum.
