Thanks...I feel that I should do SOMETHING... I mean ... if I don't I am just another example of what implants can do to you that falls through the cracks. My concern also is that if Mentor knew that there were faulty valves...Did they advise the plastic surgeons not to use the defective ones? And if so, what date were they advised? The reason I bring this up is because Dr. Blais states that the implants were of late nineties manufacturing techniques, yet I was implanted in 2002. I wonder if my PS knew this and implanted me with a faulty device anyway.

THAT is what I need to find out.

That's amazing! . . . I'd want to know too!

I've heard that implants, on the shelf still in it's

packaging are considered to have a five year shelf

life? In other words, your implants may have already

aged several years before you got them.

Is this crazy or what?

I actually had the info on the serial #'s of the batch w/ faulty mentor vales on my report form Dr. Blais' . My original nasty PS used an implant to replace a rupture I had in 99 (my original implant date was 96) with an implant dating to 95..... it was crazy - must have just been laying around the freaks office... dr. Blais' actually did research to make sure it wasn't a "re-used" implant on me because of the date- i was sooooo grossed out waiting for that report thinking I ,may have had another woman's implant inside of me. turns out it wasn't but he said he had seen this many times before. yuck!!! why mine decided to use an old implant laying around is anyone's guess..... Probably a demo to show patients he stuck inside of me. again - another jab at the Statute of limitations issue - by the time I realized my implants were making me ill it was too late.... - to use a 4 1/2 old serial number in a replacement was a serious issue to me.... especially since I found out upon removal in 2003 that it also had a faulty valve and was leaking.... this was the implant that actually had tissue growing into it holding the valve open. gross!

I will see if I an find the info from Dr.Blais' on the series of serial #'s that had bad valves....

Yes, crazy, no doubt.... not too happy about this situation at all.

Amazing!

What keeps coming to mind is the plastic surgeon who

told me, to my face that he made money putting breast

implants in, and he made money taking them out. He

didn't give a **** what they did!
