I won't bother you with the details since I see my story has already been told here by Atlanta Girl, so nice of her. I found this group while doing a search and just hoping to share my story and learn from others. I saw this thread first thing about P and thought WOW! I too have been using P vaginally. I was taking it 12 days of the month and having alot of problems. I noted to Dr. Vliet that each month with the P cycle I was getting zits, oily hair, more hairloss etc. She suggested that I do use it in a continuous dose on a daily basis (100 mgs). She thought maybe the on and off was causing to many fluctuations in my body. Let me say what usually works for people doesn't for me. After 2.5 years of this hell I am still looking for the answer. BUT since I began this method Feb. 23 I have to say many of the symptoms have gone away. I sleep like a baby, no zits, oil better, BUT the hair, oh the hair. I must say that I am probably losing an average of 60-70 hairs a day. Which sounds not so bad BUT when you have been losing it for 2.5 years it is still scary territory. I do have some new hair and hoping it will keep improving. But I am losing hair of every size even the new ones. I am going to try to stay with this method for another month and see how it goes. It has been so frustrating and literally changed every aspect of my life. I use to have more hair than five people, was very outgoing, taught school, but since the c-section from hell everything has been a nightmare. Praying it will all end soon. Hope to share. Thanks, Pam >
Guest guest
Hi Pam, Sorry to hear about your situation. What amount and type of E do you take? I just started the vaginal P and it seems better than the oral or transdermal for me. I basically will probably have to do a DNC because I took too much unopposed E. I did this because I could not tolerate the transdermal P(various side effects hair loss, acne super slow digestion, slept poorly). I will now take much less E and stick w/the vaginal P every month and see how that works. Karin > > > > A question to those out there that have tried the various > progesterone routes. Guest guest
I am using the vaginal gel. But I was bleeding so heavy yesterday that I had to go to the Dr. I am now taking no E and Prometrium orally just so I can stop bleeding. I had a biopsy done also and the sono says that I am about a 14 and the uterous is slightly inlarged (no cysts or fibroids). It is probably all because I took too much E w/no P or very little. I went off of Aldactone (spiro) about 6 mos ago and I had to take massive doses of E because that medication blocks Test and E. I also did not fair well on the transdermal P or oral P. Right now if I put an E patch on I hemorage. I just want to stop bleeding and than I will take E with the vaginal P in mimimum doses to feel well. Just hope I don't loose the new hair that grew back or that the acne doesn't come back. Karin > > > > > > > > A question to those out there that have tried the various > > > progesterone routes. Guest guest
Karin, just wanted to say, i am soo very sorry about what you're going through..Just like you i was doing high E with no P for a few months...cramps were pretty bad, that's what scared me...then i stopped sleeping at night...at 0.2mg..it's been over 4 weeks..i am miserable to say the least. At this point, forget hair, i just want to be able to sleep...So i started using low P about a week ago, 100mg orally to help me sleep..still couldn't sleep..dropped down E some...slept well for 2 nights, and then last night couldn't sleep again..Don't understand anymore what's going on, but just like you, i am adding P, lowering E and praying for my hair to stay put..Again, so very sorry, and hope the bleeding will stop soon! -bigbird3099 wrote: I am using the vaginal gel. Guest guest
If you had a 14 stripe, it probably would be good to bleed it out. I had a 13 stripe a year ago and was thankful when it finally started shedding. Guest guest
Hi Val, How long did you bleed for? My Dr. said I could bleed for the next month and it would not be unusual. Guest guest
And so what happens - do you get chin hairs? As for your bleeding, it's going to take awhile to stop. If you use the 8% crinone, it's 90 mgs and it's not going to stop overnight. You need to shed that lining! The prometrium should help though. > > > > > > A question to those out there that have tried the various > > progesterone routes. Guest guest
From what I remember he explained to me that some people have a lot of the 5 alpha reductase in their skin (hence a heightened sensitivty to Test even when levels are not high). So I think it my case I got the worst P results with the transdermal cream. I did not have them with the vaginal and even the oral these last 12 days.
