Hi Rogene and Lea,

I’m 3/4 of the way through the book. Are you planning on doing is 45 day diet? If so, let me know. Maybe we can do it together. Lea, you want to do it too?

Kenda

Lea,

I'm amazed you are doing so well on your " diet " . . .

It's important to get a variety of foods to get all

the nutrients. . . with fruit and veggies. . . Fish is

great way to get protein! also, beans and nuts!

Have you seen Rubin's " The Maker's Diet " ? He claims

that one can turn their health around by eating right

for fourty days! . . . Wouldn't that be amazing? (I'm

talking to myself now!)

Love,

Rogene

Kenda,

If I could handle cooking two completely different

meals, I'd try it.

My hubby absolutely refuses to eat diet stuff . . . so

I'm gradually introducing one thing at a time with the

diet as a goal. It's two steps forward and one step

back right now!

Hi Rogene,

My husband doesn’t have a choice. :) He gets what I give him. After 18 years, he’s used to it by now. :)

Lea,

If you could cut it to one cup, and drink organic coffee, that would

probably be good.

But, your diet is not good. I buy organic cereal, whole grain, lots of

fiber, and use rice dream, organic (I cannot have soy). I seldom drink

commercial juice. I eat fruit, lots of vegetables (mostly organic), and

use whole grains. I do eat meat, but small portions and free range. I am

lactose intolerant, but can have yogurt, which is also organic.

I would be dead today if I had not cleaned up my diet, which was better

than many in the first place, since I have always eaten lots of fresh

vegetables and fruits and used whole grains.

Love you,

Lynda

I read every label. The rule is: If the line of ingredients is more than 3

lines, throw it back for cause. Otherwise read everything and don't eat

artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors, etc. Avoid chemicals in food. Eat

fresh.

Try decaf (organic) for the second cup.

I sometimes drink half a cup. I just don't do well with stimulants. But I

do love coffee. I love the smell more than the flavor, I think.

Diet is THE most important thing in gaining or regaining health.

Have either of you tried Teechino? It is a coffee alternative that

tastes almost like the real thing! It is called herbal coffee and

here is their description:

" Herbal coffee is a blend of herbs, nuts, fruits and grains that are

roasted, ground and brewed just like coffee. Dark, rich, and full-

bodied, Teeccino brings you all the satisfaction of a robust brew

with no caffeine reaction. Teeccino tastes mildly sweet from dates

and figs, but only has 15 calories per cup! Teeccino contains 65mg

of potassium to give your body a natural energy lift and 365mg of

inulin to enhance your digestion and improve your elimination. "

So, it is not only a good coffee substitute, it is good for you!

You can check it out here:

http://www.teeccino.com/

The website also gives tips on how to quit drinking coffee so that

you don't suffer from caffeine withdrawal.

I've tried the Hazelnut and almond amaretto. Both are delicious.

In fact, I am going to go brew some right now!!

Hi Lea,

I eat very much like Lynda and would recommend the foods that she suggested earlier. I do eat a variety of nuts and have never had a problem with mold. Since you like eggs, poached eggs are easy to make or you can make the 1 minute microwave egg in a cup. Just spray a coffee cup with Pam, crack the egg and put it in the cup and cover loosely with plastic wrap. I don’t like to cook with a microwave, they give me the willies, but it is quick and easy for those who don’t have a lot of time.

Some reports say two cups or less of coffee per day is ok, others say no coffee is ok. I know that coffee is a diuretic and can cause you to lose important vitamins. I drink it occasionally but I don’t like it black, it has to have chocolate and skim milk in it and come from Starbucks. :( How about green tea, do you like it? Maybe you could drink coffee sometimes and green tea others. My Dr. Leu swears by green tea.

Try to eat a protein, grain and fruit/vegetable at every meal and eat at least three good meals per day. Snacks in between meals would be great too.

Love,

Kenda

Thanks Patty . . .

Teechino looks really good . . .

I just asked hubby if he wanted to try some . . . no

interest!

Actually I drink very little and very weak coffee, so

I don't worry about it. . . My brother actually had

his heart go bonkers because he drank so much while

his wife had back surgery. He ended up in the

emergency room with paddles being used to restart his

heart! . . . Try 17 cups in one day! . . Eeeeeeek!
