The introduction of much more widespread early screening for AS would be

very welcome, so this sounds like excellent news to me.

I believe one significant outcome from such screening would be to

balance the sexes and overturn the current official statistics (which I

personally consider to be wrong) which say the prevalence of AS is 4:1

male:female. In my opinion that 4:1 figure is based on an imbalance of

diagnosing rather than on an imbalance of actual prevalence.

Hi Everyone

Interesting article today in the Independent newspaper.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-

news/brain-scan-promises-to-identify-the-hidden-sufferers-of-autism-

2049090.html

I think it's possibly great news, though obviously will need to be

developed further, but what a good start.

So much better than the current system!

I'd be interested to hear all your views.

Best wishes

Very true.

A lot of the difference is also because female Aspies don't present the same way

males do ... we want friends, and tend to be the " goats " in the girl pack,

rather than complete loners. We don't memorize train schedules, either.

Try cutting and pasting the entire address instead of clicking.  Seems only part of it is hyperlinked.  This fixed it for me.  It is an interesting article and worth the work to get to it.Kathy

It's phrenology, resurrected. Be careful with this one too.

I totally agree. However I find it a little strange that you and I

know that only too well and yet the authorities that produce the

statistics don't seem to be aware at all of how flawed their figures are.

Haha! Dunno why AS girls shouldn't memorise timetables. I wish I could

memorise my local bus timetables; would save me having to keep hunting

for them and looking them up all the time. [grin]

It's probably because the original got word-wrapped on to 3 lines.

I had to deliberately copy all three lines and paste them into my

browser before I could get it to work.
