Guest guest
Hi Val, I just spoke with Pete Huessman a well respected pharmacist at Bellevue Pharmacy Solutions, recommemded by Power Surge and he said you need 100 mg. vaginal suppository for 12-14 days every 3 1/2 mos. Sounds like Gelliespie isn't recommending enough progesterone to induce bleeding. That's what he said. I'lm going to try that instead and see if I can tolerate the vag. prog. at 100 mg.. Thanks for responding, > > The highest my E2 has tested is 61 and I got hyperplasia on 1.5mg Estrogel + > 50 mg vaginal P for five days every three months. > > Val > > From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ] > On Behalf Of menomama > > > I have read Larian Gillespie's book " You're Not Crazy It's Your > Hormones " She says you can use estrogen without progesterone if you > keep your estorgen blood level below 115. Guest guest
Prometrium, 200 mg for 10 days/month, every month.. Val From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ] On Behalf Of menomama Just another question. What did you end up doing when you got hyperplasia, D & C? Just wondering what I might be facing should I have the same problem. Thanks again, > > The highest my E2 has tested is 61 and I got hyperplasia on 1.5mg Estrogel + > 50 mg vaginal P for five days every three months. > > Val
Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to mention that I have noticed a huge difference in the strength of different progesterones. I have been able to take 50 mg vaginal compounded progesterone with very little side effects. This month I tried 50 mg Cyclogest from Masters Marketing and I could hardly stand it for two days. I was so tired and could hardly get off the couch the next day that I took it. I cut back to 25 mg and did much better but by day 10 I was having more side effects than with my compounded progesterone. Next month I am going to try 20 mg of Cyclogest and see what happens. The 25 mg cyclogest for 7 days with two days of 50 mg and one day of 40 mg is giving me a good period. It also raised my temperature from 98.2 in the morning to about 98.8 which is what I think it should do. I checked my temp throughout the month and I am fairly certain that I did not ovulate this month so I believe my period was induced solely by my vaginal progesterone. With the cyclogest I made sure and positioned it right next to my cervix at bedtime for the maximum effect (much harder to do with compounded progesterone). I also bought a new gram scale that goes down to 0.01 so that I can measure my cyclogest pieces better. I started spotting at day 9. I think I could have stopped at 9 days instead of 10 and gotten a good period. I had side effects after the 10th night that I did not have after the 9th night. After experimenting with progesterone for over a year, nine days keeps reappearing as the magic number for me. Unless what Pete sells is very weak, 100 mg for 12-14 days is probably too much (IMHO). If you read Vliet's books she recommends less vaginal progesterone but I think it is because she uses prochieve which may be stronger than compounded progesterone. Page 406 of the Revised It's My Ovaries book by Vliet states that 4% Prochieve every other night for 6 doses is a usual dose. If I am doing my math correctly, this would be equivalent to 20 mg every day for 12 days of vaginal progesterone (that has the same potency as Prochieve). I do not believe my compounded progesterone is as strong as Prochieve but I think Cyclogest may be. I think it is unlikely that Pete's progesterone is so weak that you would need a dose 5 times stronger than what Vliet recommends. Wile I was on progesterone this month I increase my estrogen. I defiantly noticed that increasing my estrogen made me feel better. It did not help me enough on the days that I was stuck to the couch (when I really overdosed) but it did help quite a bit the other days. Maybe you could think about increasing your estrogen dose when you take progesterone to see if it helps with the bad side effects. Guest guest
yes, oral. 50 mg vaginal/month for 10 days gave me terrible OD symptoms- mostly hair loss and weight gain. It was cumulative over 3 - 4 months I used it. Maybe I could tolerate every 3.5 months. Val From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ] On Behalf Of menomama Val, Is it oral Prometrium? I absolutely cannot tolerate that....tried the 100 mg. at bedtime and got insomnia, depression, agitation, pounding heart. What would you do if you couldln't take the Prometrium? Thanks, > > Prometrium, 200 mg for 10 days/month, every month.. > > Val
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Remember me from PS? Anyway I saw my Obgyn today and decided to go back on estrogen sublingual 1 mg. per day and 1.24 mg. test. per day, sublingual with the progeswterone I wrote about. I forwarded your comments to him in the form of an e-mail and waiting to see what his response will be. I'll let you know. I'm looking forward to being on the estrogen but am a little nervous about 3 1/2 mos. cydling progesterone. I don't want to get hyperplasia. Good to hear from you again. Guest guest
Hi , Of course I remember you, that is why I responded to you message since we have " talked " some much already. Are you going to split your sublingual estrogen? Dr. Reiss page 68 of " Natural Hormone Balance for Women " says to split sublingual estrogen into two doses. The graph on page 76 shows sublingual spiking/dropping quickly and wearing off after 11-12 hours. After looking at the graph it seems like splitting your dose into three doses would be better for a more even level. If you get nervous about 3 ½ months you can always start your progesterone earlier. Kathy > > Hi Kathy, > > Remember me from PS? Guest guest
Charlotte, What kind of iodine drops did you use and where did you get them. Do you need an RX? How many drops? Did you use this instead of progesterone or with P? I'm desperate to find a way to stay on estrogen without progesterone. Just wondering. My doctor is recommending hysterectomy. I have hyperplasia and polyps. The thing is, women can get this without using the hormones the way G suggested. It is so hard to know what to do. My endometrium was at 1.7 cm, and I had vaginal bleeding off and on. More like spotting. > > I am on the fence about hysterectomy. He is pushing for it - Dr. Samimi, who does the 'bloodless' hysterectomy that preserves ligaments and muscles and nerve bundles in the vagina and pelvis - and we are moving in another month or so to another part of the country where I won't have access to him, so I am really conflicted about this. > > Gael > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- > See what's free at AOL.com. >
Guest guest
> > Kathy, > > I just started reading about iodine. What does it do? > > Thanks, > Hi , Lynn on this group is very knowledgeable about iodine. She has recommended reading this site for iodine information: http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iodine Yahoo groups also has an interesting iodine group to read: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/iodine You have to sign up and be accepted before you can read the posts. I have found that taking 4 drops of Lugol's solution twice a day with vit. C has cured my breast pain/tenderness/swelling. I used to have breast pain for two weeks every month since I can remember. Some people use Iodoral instead of Lugol's. I bought Lugol's first because it is less expensive than Iodoral. There is quite a bit of information (some of it confusing) about iodine. Reading the sites above plus Lynn's posts would be helpful. I bought my Lugol's from this site: http://www.jcrows.com/iodine.html The breastcancerchoices site above sells Iodoral. Guest guest
Hi Carol, I have a friend who got off progesterone because of the terrible depression it caused. Her Dr. switched her to Prometrium and she felt better on that, which is funny but it worked for her. Do you think more progesterone every 3 mos. would work and for longer. Pete Huessman from Bellevue Pharmacy suggests 100 mg. vaginal progesterone for 12-14 days every 3 - 3-1/2 mos. I'm think about trying that. Thanks, > > > > I have read Larian Gillespie's book " You're Not Crazy It's Your > > Hormones " > > I just had to add my two cents to this post as I also followed Dr. G's > protocol. Guest guest
Lynn, For what purpose do you use iodine? I don't think I have a severe thyroid problem other than hair loss at menopause but none of my tests have shown thyroid problems. I'm interested in it to prevent hyperplasia because I cannot tolerate progesterone. Do you use it for that purpose also? Thanks so much, > > > Lynn on this group is very knowledgeable about iodine. I say have because after a year on iodine i have no pain in them but the cysts are still there. They are getting smaller and I've dropped almost 1.2 a bra size ....something I would like. Fibrocystic breasts, fibroid, ovarian cysts etc are ALL signs something is going wrong iwth the tissue. Fibrocystic breasts put one at risk for breast cancer. Iodine helps the cells to arrange themselves correctly. I would imagine although not seen any evidence that hyperplasia is also in that category. I can't really speak to that as I've not had a uterine ultrasound lately so don't know the shape of my uterus. I also haven't done progesterone in quite awhile. My doctor said as long as I'm bleeding every few months don't worry about it. You really need to go into breastcancerchoices.org and read the material on iodine. It's most likely 99% of us walking around the USA are deficient to some degree. There is a huge amount of information on that site and links to others places you can teach yourself. Guest guest
Sorry to be slow in answering. Haven't looked on here in a few days. I use Women's International Pharmacy. Their P capsules are in oil and I just insert the whole capsule vaginally with my fingers. It quickly melts. I use it at night after I lie down to go to sleep, just once. That way I can sleep through the worst of the P symptoms. I find that the day following the P insertion, I feel kind of lousy at breakfast, but then feel better and better as the day wears on and my P level drops. I just finished my 12th night of P last night. I am so happy to be through! ----Rosette > > Rosette, > > Which pharmacy to you use that is less expensive than Bellevue?
