Guest guest
Hi , who is your TCM doctor? Your son's progress is identical to my sons' first week progress such as dark circles under eye were gone, notice surrounding better, more conversational, higher cognition, calm, no tantrum, and sleep much better and deeper at night. Please keep posting yous son's development. I am very happy for you. Sincerely, Rei Subject: Our TCM report 5 days inTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Monday, November 17, 2008, 10:59 PM Our ds saw his TCM doctor five days ago and started his herbs that day when we got home. I will give you all a bit of background, so you know a little about our "starting point" with the herbs. My ds has had HUGE, HUGE gains since we started intervention with him. Every step we have made has given noticeable improvements. He definitely still has characteristics like stimming, scripting, OCD, etc. Most people are shocked when I tell them he is autistic, but they don't have the trained eye to see him stimming on the signs at the park, etc. I was even talking to a children's mental health counselor last week at a park and she said she never would have guessed. So, we did not expect to see HUGE gains from the herbs because he has already made SO much progress. Instead, we hoped to see slow, steady improvements and better overall health.Day 1: He did great at the appt. He takes the herbs fine in his foods. He slept noticeably better that night.Day 2: Reflux seemed slightly down, his verbal skills were increased -he was using more complicated sentence structure and more back-and-forth conversation. He was very tired by late afternoon. He was snuggling with me on the couch while Daddy made dinner and actually fell asleep next to me and sweat it out big time as soon as he fell asleep. He had a large BM that evening even though lately (since he potty-trained at the beginning of Oct.) he only has one every other day and he had one the day before. He slept pretty good that night.Day 3: My ds is a big night-sweater which I know is from detox. He isn't as bad as he used to be, but he still sweats a lot. I had to throw out his pillow because it smelled so strongly (more on that in a second) and because we actually found mold on it because he would soak his pillow every night and it was staying damp.On this day he sweat ALL day. It had nothing to do with the temperature; he was dumping something BIG time. He was again very tired, BUT he wasn't grumpy like he would normally be when that tired. His cognition and verbal skills were up. It was subtle, but definitely notable. Slept well.Day 4: Cognition and verbal skills (particularly pragmatic) definitely up. This was Sunday at church and he was able to participate in class better than he usually does (we are the teachers of the class.) His OCD and visual stimming were down. He was playing better and more interactive. He was tired, but calm. And the amazing thing was that his "smell" was gone! He has had a very strong smell about him for as long as I can remember. It isn't a sweaty, underarm scent. It is just like his own personal scent, but REALLY strong, particularly on his scalp and neck. We would give him a shower and wash his hair and within 10 minutes his scalp smelled like we hadn't washed his hair in weeks. On this day, the scent was completely gone - I guess after all that sweating the day before. It has remained GONE. We skipped a day of showering and after 48 hrs there still was no scent at all, even after playing hard outside and night-sweating.Day 5: Much more conversational, less OCD and repetitive play, much stronger interest in what is going on around him and in social interaction, expressed himself age-appropriately and with appropriate words when he didn't want to share. Indiscernable from his peers while playing with the kids at the park today (I nearly cried.) He didn't stim on the park signs at all for the last two days. Very little stimming at all this day (only saw it maybe three times.) His eyes which usually have very dark circles by bedtime, were much improved today, even at the end of the day when he was SO tired. He also needs his ears cleaned once per week because the wax builds up and will block his canal. When I went to clean them tonight, there was maybe 1/4 the usual wax in there, which really surprised me. Related?? Time will tell.Overall, for him, he has had some really big gains! I am really pleased with how rapidly changes are coming for him. They would probably be somewhat subtle to others, but they are really obvious and glaring to us. He is more "present" and taking part more. He is more aware, more social, more conversational, etc. For example, many times at mealtime, he will seem to want to participate in the conversation but I guess he doesn't know how to jump in and participate. So he will script. The last few days, he has been holding conversation instead. It is very exciting. The only "negative" has been that he is obviously more tired than usual, but he isn't unpleasant from it.Sorry so long, but I didn't want to leave anything out. It is very difficult to explain how different he is overall, but it is very, very good.HTH,
