Guest guest
Our center has mostly women workers, too. Eighteen of 25 calltakers and dispatchers, in fact. (Eleven vacancies - but that's another story.) Right now I'm the only male on my team. Actually we do have more men now than when I started in '96. Two of the three men who've been here the longest (including me) are retired military, too. The third is former military - did a couple of hitches and got out to come here. Not sure what that means! Why so few men? No clue. Personally don't care who we have so long as they know what they're doing! Still, it might make an interesting social science study! I am recently retired from the military and am now a dispatch trainee for the City of Roanoke. I am the token male on my shift accept for on of the two lead dispatchers.
