Guest guest
Lynda, You are very right! All of my sinus problems have been related to mold. I'm very allergic to it. However, it doesn't have to be in the home. When it is wet and damp outside, the mold starts growing and my allergies kick in really bad. Guest guest
Mold is in the soil, in the air, and in sink drains, etc. I use bleach regularly to try to get it out of my home, as there are lots of other cleaning supplies I don't use. I had water damage and had to have the entire bathroom floor removed, and it got worse since then, but getting better now. And I live in a very dry climate. Most new homes have little problem. They advise us to only buy homes with a cement foundation, not a wooden one. Lynda At 10:06 PM 8/20/2005, you wrote: >Lynda, > >You are very right! Guest guest
Jen, It's sometimes hard to tell if one has mold in their house because it can be in the walls, under the carpet, et. One way is to spend time outside, deep breathing. . . See if you start feeling better . . . then go back inside and see if you smell a musty smell, or if your nose starts running, throat feels a bit sore, headache, etc. Ask someone else to see if they smell anything. If you live in a dry area, or keep your house heated or air conditioned most the time, chances are low you have a mold problem, unless there is a defect in the building itself. Older homes are far more likely to have problems because of old plumbing leaks, leaky roofs, defective drains, etc. . . . The condensation line from the AC can plug up and cause an overflow that develops into a mold problem if it seeps into the carpet or wood floor. One friend got married and moved into a new house. . ..She immediately started feeling terrible . . it got worse and worse to the point she didn't even unpack. . .. .When she finally moved some boxes, she found the bathroom had been leaking water under the wall, under the carpet into their bedroom. This doesn't happen often with new homes, thank goodness! . . . Hopefully you don't have a problem! Hugs, Rogene >
Guest guest
Jen, Ours is newer than yours and we had problems and didn’t see any damage. I had a mold company come out and do testing. We’re in the process of repairing it now. I also have a Freshaire machine by Ecoquest that works wonders at killing molds and other cooties in the home. Kenda How do I know if there is mold in our home? Our home is only 2yrs old with no water problems/damage. Guest guest
So interesting, as nothing has made me sicker than one of these units in a friend's home. They had to turn it off every time I came over. Lynda At 11:48 PM 8/21/2005, you wrote: >Kenda, >I have a Fresh Air too, and I love it! We also bought the FreshAir >to Go. Guest guest
Hi Patty, I have the FreshAir to Go too, as well as two Breeze AT’s. I keep one of the Breeze’s in my laundry room because we have two litter boxes and six cats. The Breeze keeps our house from smelling like a litter box. I always take my Fresh Air to Go on vacation, just in case. I was surprised how much that tiny unit could do! Funny that you like the smell of ozone, I do too. To me, it smells like fresh, clean air. I had a contractor come in who hated the smell. I love all of my EcoQuest products, we even have the whole house water filter. Kenda Kenda, I have a Fresh Air too, and I love it! We also bought the FreshAir to Go. It's perfect for the bathroom and other smaller rooms, hotel rooms, car, etc. When we got back from our cabin tonight, the first smell to reach my nose when we walked in the door was the fresh smell of the ozone-- like right after a thunderstorm. It keeps our home fresh and clean. I am really happy with this unit! Guest guest
They probably have the ozone setting on too high. Did their home smell like bleach? I have to watch it to keep mine at a healthy setting. Too much ozone isn’t a good thing, it can cause headaches, lung problems and dry eyes. So interesting, as nothing has made me sicker than one of these units in a friend's home. They had to turn it off every time I came over.
