Guest guest
I asked our DAN about it, and she said that it was OK but not the best. She said to get several different probiotics and change them up during the week so that our son gets lots of different types in him. Right now we are only on one since we like to check for reactions, but we will eventually get there. > > > > > Has anyone used a product called Three-Lac to help fight yeast? Guest guest
My son never flapped until i started Threelac. Went away as soon as I discontinued. Come to find out it does contain small amounts of casein. Our DAN isn't a fan...says it's not strong enough. Good Luck, > > > > > Has anyone used a product called Three-Lac to help fight yeast? Guest guest
We used it. Two of us got very ill from it, and stayed ill for two weeks after stopping it. The tiniest amount caused this, so it must be an allergy. The other 4 seemed to like it. I have seen reports that some can not tolerate it and some do well on it, so I would proceed with caution. Guest guest
I had ds on this for a few months. He had major die-off from it, and no averse reactions, so I thought it was doing him good. But, when we started seeing a DAN she recommended against using it since apparently there is a particular strain of bacteria in it that can overgrow and " become pathogenic " were her exact words. I've talked with other moms who swear by Threelac and use it religiously with great results. But, I've decided to take our DAN's advice and stay away from it. DS started on Kirkman's Probio Gold, and was recently switched to VLS3 and Sachromeyeces for yeast (clostridia not candidia) and bacteria issues. Guest guest
My daughter never seemed to get a die off from Threelac and did okay on it at first. But after about 4 to 5 weeks on it she was miserable. She screamed constantly and did a high pitched squeal throughout the day. As soon as I stopped it she stopped screaming so much and squealing. I think it was too strong for her as she isn't a huge yeast kid. > > > > > Has anyone used a product called Three-Lac to help fight yeast? This is the product that McCarthy used for her son. Guest guest
I stay away from it because of the strep strain – like Christel says – my kid doesn’t need anymore strep – he gets ALL the PANDAS symptoms.
Guest guest
That's true. The questionable bacteria is enterococcus faecalis. It was banned in some countries, but the ban was lifted here in Canada and it is now only being " monitored " as a possible infectious agent. It's known to cause urinary tract infections in particular, but is a very hardy strain and can overpopulate as you said. > > I had ds on this for a few months. Guest guest
Yes there are many types of strep... They are found in our mouth, skin, intestines, and upper respiratory tract, as part of our normal, healthy flora. Two very healthy strains used for centuries are streptococcus thermophilus, streptococcus cremoris. But the specific bacteria that is potentially harmful, and found in Threelac is called enterococcus faecalis. This strain is very hardy and has the potential to be problematic for many. Those with compromised immune systems are at greatest risk. This bacteria is not used in most other probiotics. > > > > hate to break it to you but the strains of bacteria he was refering > to in the threelac *strep lines, are ALSO in the probio gold AND the > the VLS#3 I believe which by the way also has milk > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - http://www.avg.com > Version: 8.0.175 / Virus Database: 270.9.7/1798 - Release Date: 11/18/2008 8:59 PM >
