Guest guest
Hi, I have been catching up on email from when I was on vacation and was reading an article sent in to the list. If those of you with ear problems didn’t get a chance to read it, here is an excerpt that may be of interest to you. The liver is at the core of so many health issues, more than I realized. The liver also regulates body functions which affect emotional and mental activities. In a diseased condition, the liver's blood storage and regulatory functions are affected, and bleeding or clots can result. When liver blood is deficient, nourishment to tendons and blood vessels is curtailed, the joints become stiff, and muscles become spasmodic and numb. Blood deficiency in the liver may even lead to stroke, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, deafness, fainting or convulsion. When the liver blood is so deficient that it cannot nourish the eyes, night blindness or blurring may result. If the liver is affected by stress or unhappy feelings, its vitality may be repressed and the sides hurt, and hiccups or hernia may develop. The bowels may become constipated and sleep may be disturbed causing nightmare or insomnia [2]. Kenda
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Thank you! This summer has been so busy, it’s nice to be back home, for good! Here is the website I clipped the info from: http://www.sensiblehealth.com/ >From what I read, yes, it is just a matter of detoxing/flushing. The article is very interesting! I’d like to try a flush but both Dr. Leu and my gastro are against it because of the pancreatitis attack I had three years ago. I’m sure I still have liver issues because my digestion is poor from time to time and that is one of the symptoms. I thought it was parasites or bacteria but I’ll bet it’s my liver. One article did say that Gold Coin Grass tincture can be taken for up to a year for safer removal of stones. I’m going to email Dr. Leu about it to see if he has any objections to my trying it. Guest guest
Hi , I forgot to answer your question. I did the Marshall Protocol because I seemed to have reached a plateau of wellness with the A/P of Minocin alone. But had not quite reached total remission. So, in the fall, 2007, I think it was, I started with Phase 1 of the Marshall Protocol. What a difference! I immediately got sicker and was overjoyed that my body was doing the killing with the help of the additional antibiotics and the Benicar. I went into a modified Phase 2 and finished up with the Phase 3 two years later. I finally stopped all but the Minocin & Benicar when my blood work showed I had reached the remission stage. I was still taking the Minocin & the Benicar daily until another year had past and I was still in remission. During that year, I noticed that the repairs and healing process was in full swing. Scleroderma had attacked all my major organs. Little by little they are repairing themselves. I am happy. I am in the maintenance stage and I now take only the Minocin & the Benicar. From time to time, I may resume some of the other antibiotics in the future for short periods of therapy if I feel that the disease is coming back. Every 6 months to a year, I will have my blood work checked.  I will never let my guard down again. For me it was a do or die situation. So, I did and I am so grateful. Thanks for asking. Dolores From: cheriebski <cheriebski@...> Subject: rheumatic ear ringing rheumatic Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 1:10 AM I have been on minocycline 1 month. When I first started I was taking 100 mg twice a day and soon felt nauseated, dizzy and had ringing in my ears. I changed to MWF minocycline, taking 100 mg at dinner. The nausea and dizzyness stopped but the ringing has remained. My dr. had said to take the mino daily, 50mg am and pm which I have been doing about a week. I still have the ringing in my ears. I am on other meds and supplements - I had indicated in a previous post one of the meds is enbrel which I'm still trying to space out more, we'll see how I do this week. I'm down to 2 mg prednisone daily. Any thoughts? Cherie
Guest guest
Hi Mike, My question is the statement in your message to that Doxycycline is the same as Minocin. Are you saying you can tate Doxycline instead of Minocin--I so hope that is what you are saying my cost for the Minocin is so so expensive and we have free Doxycycline free. Thank you so much for your great posts. Have a blessed day, Kathy Egenbacher Sent: Wednesday, June 16, 2010 5:05 AM rheumatic Subject: Re: rheumatic ear ringing Hi , I forgot to answer your question. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, There are lots of people who just can't take mino so go onto doxy instead .. so the answer to question is a resounding yes, you can take the doxy. Great news that it's free where you are!! Guest guest
Hi Dolores, It's nice to hear from someone who has actually reached remission & it goes without saying especially for SD. I guess when you added things to the mix your system really did get a bit of a shock & there is no doubt you did have some serious herxing! You are right though, Minocycline & Doxycycline are both Tetracyclines. Although I don't personally take mino my AP Dr believes in treating the co-infections that have been identified as well which is why I am on 4 different antibiotics at any one time. In my case I am taking Amoxil, Dalacin C, Rulide & Ibilex. Amoxil is a penicillin, Dalacin C is clindamycin, Ibilix is Cephalexin & Roxithromycin (rulide)is a Macrolide. My AP Dr tweaks my meds by changing 2 every now & again for instance we could add Ceclor CD which is one of the cephems group of antibiotics, Klacid which is Clarithromycin or Doxy taking out the Ddalacin C & Ibilex but because of lyme always keeps in the Amoxil & Rulide. AP is definitely not an easy path but when you find the right meds, as you did, you can get things under control & I have no doubt eventually reach remission. Guest guest
Hi Dolores, It's 9.23am Frid morning here which is 7.29pm Thur in Puerto Rico. Glad to meet you & talk to you but think you have me mixed up with Maz on the Roadback site, she is from BC ! I have no doubt that the mycoplasma's etc took over when my immune system was busy fighting off the staph infection ( & only just contained it with help of maximum strength abx administered 24/7 through a PCC line). It doesn't help that I had a tick on me for about 2 wks when I was pregnant with my 2nd child & didn't know it was there (it attached to the back of my head) it was only when the headaches got out of control that we found it .. so I have our Lyme as well (not to be confused with USA Lyme), it's the same family but not quite that bad.. Interesting you say you are allergic to dairy .. a couple of wks ago my young grandson (aged 5) poured us a glass of milk so without thinking just drank it (it's been almost 2 hrs since I had milk &  forever since I had full cream milk) boy did I pay for that for the next 16 hrs. At the time I couldn't work out why I flared, it wasn't until the pain eased up I remembered about the milk - anyway to prove my theory I deliberately had another glass of full cream milk last Sat night & by 11.00pm I was in agony, this time the pain lasted until Tue afternoon .. so now I know. Although must admit I enjoyed the drink won't be doing that again in a hurry! My mum is 96 too this year, but fit & well.  My mother-in-law however had alzheimers so I know what it entails & how you must feel, we used to just try to get into her world & laugh with her instead of correcting her all the time ... once we did that it was much easier on the family. Good for you taking her out for the day!!  Opening a 'retreat' sounds wonderful & what a lovely part of the world to have it ... !!! Let me know when you eventually get your book published, I would love to add it to my library of 'must keep' books I have read & re-read over the years. I too have leaky gut so I know how difficult it is to heal when we keep succuming to our cravings every now & again, but hey we are only human. Cheers, Maz ________________________________ From: mike rosner <martysfolks2004@...> rheumatic Sent: Thu, 17 June, 2010 2:55:57 PM Subject: Re: rheumatic Re: ear ringing  Hi Maz, This is Dolores, Love hearing all the things you have used also. Yes, I believe that I cleaned out a lot of co-infections both bacterial and viral by rotating and substituting antibiotics and antivirals. When I was positive for EBV & CMV, I was given acyclovir (an antiviral) But not for a long enough period because I believe that by not clearing that up completely, my immune system got compromised and then the mycoplasmas were able to worm their way in, replicate enough so that when they took over my immune system, I came down with Scleroderma.followed by R/A & MCTD. I was a bacterial/viral soup mix and it nearly killed me.  What time or day is it down in Australia?  It is almost 12:30 a.m. here in Puerto Rico and this is the time of day/night that I finally have to myself to be able to get online and read the posts. You know I take care of my mom who is almost 96 and has Alzheimers. We took her out for the entire day today. What a trooper! She walked the malls with us and then enjoyed going out to eat. We had a good time. Before she went to bed, she had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with some milk. I feel like I am taking care of a child. The sad part is that tomorrow, she will not remember any of it.  You have been a source of great help to me. I remember a photo of your face from the Roadback site. I remember back, during my brain foggy days,  I would announce that I was in remission with each step I took only to fall back again into symptoms that baffled me. Then nobody would hear from me for a while and then I would announce my remission again only to get sick all over again. I gues that was herxing, but I didn't realize it. Maybe it was because I really didn't know what herxing was. I know I still have some more cleaning up to do because even though I am now sero-negative, I still get nauseous sometimes and throw up without provocation. All of me is cleared out except my gut. I have to take lactaid because I am still lactose intolerant and should not eat dairy foods, but do succumb sometimes and then I suffer the consequenses. The rest of me is super fine. I guess, with me the gut is the hardest one to heal especially since I lost all my extra weight and now seem like I can eat anything and not gain. I have a tendency to pig out on forbidden foods. It doesn't help that Mike is a junk food junkie and so we have these goodies in the house. My mom loves sweets also and she won't touch veggies. We would have arguements when I would withold dessert from her until she finished her veggies. Then I told the doc and he said she is in excellent health and at 95 let her eat anything she wants. So, I let up on her. Every morning Mike gives her a sweet roll and coffee and she is fine eating all her meals for the rest of the day. She is looking good.  I just want to say thanks for being there for all of us.  I, and I'm sure others appreciate your input. So, thank you and keep up the good works. If you ever want to fly up to the Caribbean, you would be most welcome.  I have personally met with some of the people who post and have enjoyed our visits together. Can't wait to get my dream of opening up a retreat, a reality. I am a people person and there are a lot of people who have contributed their stories and information to the book I am writing. I hope to finish it soon and get it to the publishers in New York. Will definitely let everyone know when that day comes. Well, take care & goodnight or maybe it is morning where you are. The best to you & yours, Dolores From: Maz <mazm_mm@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: ear ringing rheumatic Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 11:45 PM  Hi Dolores, It's nice to hear from someone who has actually reached remission & it goes without saying especially for SD.
