Kathy,

I haven't been able to afford lobster, shrimp or filet for that matter in quite some time. When I was able to afford to eat that way I can tell you that I was much healthier than I am now.

I think that most everything we eat in some way or another is 'toxic' as Kenda calls it. Look at the way mad cow disease started. From feeding cows the remains, particularly the intestines of slaughtered cows.

I believe that life is short and if I watched everything that I ate my life would be very boring. However, now that I'm sick, I do have to watch everything I eat. Before I became ill with the implants, I ate the things I liked like shrimp, lobster, filet. They didn't make me sick. I was healthy and running all the time.

I believe in a well balanced diet and try to avoid the sweets for now. Until I'm well.

I believe that what I said was brought to the attention of everyone in a not so polite manner. That I believe was to have everyone jump on me which indeed did happen.

Thanks for your concern Kathy. I just wanted to clarify that piece of information. I think that we all need to eat what we feel is right for us.

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone has done a survey to find out if the New Englanders die at an earlier age because of the 'cockroaches of the sea' they consume on a daily basis.

BethYOu should read the Maker's Diet. Rubin says to avoid shrimp and lobster. The filet, if it was organic, would be acceptable once in a while. I really think you need to look into modifying your diet if you want to improve. Also have you been tested for gluten antibodies? I need to avoid gluten and it has made a small difference for me. I am sorry you feel that people were jumping on you for eating

lobster and shrimp. I am sure no one intended to make you feel that

way. You are right---I am sure there are alot of healthy people who

eat those in new england. Just as there are alot of healthy people

who eat pork, pasta, etc. I do think that when we are sick, as you

said yourself, then we have to try harder to eat a diet as good for

our body as possible. And I would venture that most people here

have strayed from that healthy diet on occasion---and sometimes alot

more than that!! Have you heard anymore about your gallbladder? I

hope you are getting some relief your pain.

That’s why we eat pesticide free, organic foods, so they aren’t toxic. Foods needn’t be toxic. Organic, free range cows are not fed intestines of slaughtered cows and therefore do not get mad cow disease.

Life is short. Eating is intended to fuel the body, nothing more. As humans, we derive pleasure from eating but that certainly isn’t the purpose of food. Healthful eating doesn’t have to be boring. It’s all in how food is prepared. It can be difficult at times when eating out, but never boring. I live a rich life, deriving pleasure from many things other than eating. That isn’t to say that I don’t indulge in ice cream occasionally but it’s all about a healthy balance.

I would doubt East Coasters live any shorter a life span due to the shellfish they enjoy. There are many things that contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle, not one single food or food group.
