Guest guest
I have weakened adrenal function as well. I was prescribed Isocort by my ND. It works wonders as long as your liver is in decent shape and can clear the excess out. When I first started taking it, I took 1/2 tablet per day and was wired to the point of being bitchy and not being able to sleep. Once my liver function was better, I increased my dose to 7 per day! I take 4 in the am and 3 in the early afternoon. It doesn’t help adrenal function, it acts like thyroid meds to. To feed adrenal function you can try Phytisone. I tried it but it didn’t help me. Kenda I don't know much about it, but I do remember talking about magnesium with Daryl's doctor and thinking something just wasn't quite right. He said she didn't need magnesium supplements, as she had lots of it in her blood. But she was in such pain all the time. Magnesium helps to relax muscles, so I was trying to think of the possibilities for her. Hmmm, with your info, it sounds like he wasn't clued into the fact that even though the magnesium was IN her body, it may not have been used by her body. A number of women have had adrenal gland issues, (exhausted adrenals), but I do not remember much in the way of discussion of treatment. I believe I also had adrenal glad issues, as my saliva was tested for cortisol and the levels were found to drop in a big way around 4 pm, which was consistent with when my fatigue would hit when I was at my sickest. I used to get tired so early in the evening and not make it through. Let us know what your doctor proposes for treatment. Thanks, Hugs, Patty > I was just wondering has anyone been tested for addisons disease to > account for some of the fatigue and weekness symptoms. Guest guest
Check http://www.permacult.com.au/probiotics/acid-alkaline-food.html If someone's body is too acidic, they will not get the necessary nutirents from their body. There is a lot more information available by doing a websearch for " acid alkaline body " or " acid alkaline balance " . Lots of excellent information! Guest guest
Not all naturopathic doctors are created equal . . . If the expense isn't an issue, you might check with Dr. Leu in Tulsa, OK . . . Kenda swears by him. Other women here trying him are happy with him too. He will do a phone consulation, then send you a kit for specimens. Guest guest
Hi Patty, How many did you take? You can take Phytisone and Isocort at the same time, that might help because Phytisone feeds the adrenal gland. Have you tried taking Isocort on an empty stomach? It is better absorbed that way. If I am really dragging, I’ll drink caffeine with it as well. I know there are differing opinions regarding caffeine consumption. I used to not drink it at all but Dr. Leu isn’t against it. The bad thing is that I don’t like the taste of coffee unless it has skim milk and chocolate in it. I have been having hormone headaches this month and caffeine really helps them. I figure it’s better than polluting my liver with Excedrin Migraine. Kenda Thanks Kenda, there's another clue for me from back then. My naturopath put me on Isocort too, but he didn't test my liver function like yours did. I took Isocort but didn't feel a thing, so I don't know what was going on. I finished the bottle, and that was that. On to the next thing. I wonder what would happen if I took it now? I need to get some testing done. Guest guest
My previous naturopath used to have me juice fruits and vegetables to drink with each lunch to help keep my body alklaline. I was told today by a health food store owner to juice carrots, an apple and a lemon to help with headaches. I haven’t tried it yet but it sounds good!
