Alot of time we get skips from wireless phones when this occurs. If its a

county that we know is not near here there are a couple of things we can do:

First, is have someone else call the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) to have them

find out what county something is in. .(exit number to an interstate of

course helps) while you are talking to ther person (of course, if you can put

them on hold do so). Then you can transfer the caller to the correct

location.. Second, we will just transfer them to the GSP and let them

figure it out and transfer them. Obviously there are times that you cannot

hang up at all. So, have someone else make the call and you continue

whatever it is you are doing. Someone else can do the work of finding the

agency and talking to them while you are still with the caller. You can ask

them if they hear sirens when the responding agency is getting closer.

Of course, everyones agency is different and might not be able to do some of

these suggestions. If there is only one person on duty, you should maybe

come up with a procedure of who to call (in our case, GSP) in one of these

situations.
