Guest guest
I have a question regarding a Kidney/Liver patient. We have a patient who is in need of both organs being transplanted. He has Blue Cross insurance at this time. He is a pre dialysis patient therefore he does not have Medicare yet. He will of course by the time of transplant. We are not contracted with Blue Cross for the liver organ but we are with Medicare. So my question is would Medicare cover the liver transplant as a secondary payer because Blue Cross will deny the liver part of the transplant but they will cover the Kidney part. We are trying to work with Blue Cross to see if they will cover both and do a special agreement but it looks to me like that is going to probably not happen. Any suggestions/help would be great....
