well anymore as people are not going into specialist shops these days..., and in

order to stave off starvation, we have put the stock online - and its proving a

good move! Ian has velvet dresses (not himself, obviously....) and other

alternative clothing, jewellery, and such as fairies and goth items.

My 14 year old daughter would love much of Ian's stuff!

She's been dressing semi-Goth for a while now, and is moving into steampunk. If

the items online are a good sample, she'd love the shop.

Too bad we are across the pond and can't (sensibly) order. God luck with the

business.

I LOVE steampunk! Didn't really know much about it until I started

dating a man who produced a regional steampunk convention.

It was quite the endeavor, as so much behind the scenes work goes into

producing ~any~ convention. Stuff I never thought of, as I was on the

consumer end only.

I saw a lot of people in attendance whom I know through other 'alt'

communities. No surprise there, as so many of these communities have

significant overlap.

Best,

What is steampunk? I like steampunk quite a bit myself, and it's been the only thing that made me

wear anything approaching a costume.

I've always hated costumes (and dressing up in general); I've attributed that to

my AS. But I travel through life surrounded by science fiction fans, SCA

devotees, and others who practically live in costume.

So I decided to extend my sewing skills and designed a steampunk shop apron for

myself. It has a custom-fitted top, full length skirt, and pockets and tool

loops everywhere they could come in useful. I've enjoyed wearing it so much I

sometimes wear it as a regular apron at home.

[Pardon the off-topic-ness.]
