Ian has velvet dresses (not himself, obviously....) and other alternative clothing, jewellery, and such as fairies and goth items. > > Have a look at > > http://www.clandragon-online.com My 14 year old daughter would love much of Ian's stuff! She's been dressing semi-Goth for a while now, and is moving into steampunk. If the items online are a good sample, she'd love the shop. Too bad we are across the pond and can't (sensibly) order. God luck with the business. --Liz

Didn't really know much about it until I started dating a man who produced a regional steampunk convention. It was quite the endeavor, as so much behind the scenes work goes into producing ~any~ convention. Stuff I never thought of, as I was on the consumer end only. I saw a lot of people in attendance whom I know through other 'alt' communities. No surprise there, as so many of these communities have significant overlap. I've always hated costumes (and dressing up in general); I've attributed that to my AS. But I travel through life surrounded by science fiction fans, SCA devotees, and others who practically live in costume. So I decided to extend my sewing skills and designed a steampunk shop apron for myself. It has a custom-fitted top, full length skirt, and pockets and tool loops everywhere they could come in useful. I've enjoyed wearing it so much I sometimes wear it as a regular apron at home. [Pardon the off-topic-ness.] --Liz
