nne -- what you are saying sounds VERY logical. But do you

realize what a doctor would say if you told him you were using 18 mg

a day of E? The thing is - and I have to ask MY doctor this

question next time I go back -- how do they account for such LOW

readings of E in our bloodstream if we ARE using 18 mgs a day?

So ARE we or AREN'T we really GETTING 18 mg a day into our systems??

They all poo-pooed Wiley for her lousy 8 mg a day up to 16, but that

was the only thing that ever got MY E up. Using THAT MUCH. When are

doctors going to get with the program??

Are we risking cancer?? This is all I'm ever told. SO I sit and

suffer and suffer with pain and headaches and hot flashes and

depression, etc etc because these doctors keep telling me I can't do

too much E. It seems a little ridiculous that no studies are

being done about this " E getting-in " problem.

My Dr. isn't too crazy about the " patches " since you can't really

conrol what amount is actually absorbed unlike the transdermal creams

and oils which is why I am going the OOE route so we can have control

what is going in and feel confident that I am getting at least a

certain amount in me. *Her opinion, though...others may find success

with it...

I understand the hai regrowth problem! I cry when my " stubbies " fall

out. I am the " scalp " queen-I hate it!!!! Heat and cold makes the

burning start up as well as does the sunlight on my head-so much for

my 1/2 acre garden this year! :(

P does convert to and and DHT, too. My SBHG was somewhat low but my

Gyn said that is good for me and my hair loss problem-this I do not

know and I will have to read up on...

Better ask your Dr. about the liver...My P level is 0.6 which is low

and yet it still makes my life a living h*** at times. What matters,

so I think I understand, where your levels are at certain times of

the month (our natural rythmns) they rise and fall for our ovulations.

When my cycle is at the time for the P to be at its highest-oh my

gosh, I pay for it in so many ways...oh, and even if the P is low, it

is still going to partially convert with what it has and I think that

is " the nature of the beast " .

Hey, Lana..just having an exeptionally bad day today..came home with PCOS diagnoses..*sigh* will it ever end?! Anyways, i am not ovulating..probably because of PCOS, so no P/E ups or down on my own...as for patches...i feel the rise and drop in E now, that i am used to it. How is OOE different thought? it's still transdermal, isn't it..and if the person isn't absorbing transdermally they wouldn't absorb either one, patches or OOE?! or is it oral?Lana wrote: ,My Dr. isn't too crazy about the "patches" since you can't really conrol what amount is actually absorbed unlike the transdermal creams and oils which is why I am going the OOE route so we can have control what is going in and feel confident that I am getting at least a certain amount in me. *Her opinion,

Oh -

That is the absolute pits! I am so sorry, and I guess it would explain the lack of "the bleed". I have read a recommended book by many on this list by a Dr. Vliet w/regard to PCOS.

OOE, the one that I am getting, is in olive oil base-since I am sensitive to a lot of creams and lotions. You put the drops on, rub in, and that's that. They do make an E that is in drops (oral) that goes under your tongue-not so popular since it supposedly isn't as reliable or strong (???) Many ladies in this group use and like the OOE and are having good numbers from it (which is why I chose OOE over the drops). My Dr. hasn't had a pt. on OOE as of yet, just the creams so she is really anxious to here my report in 2 months...can we say "ginnea pig"!! Kidding, she's a doll!!

, I am sure that your present mood is a bit dismal, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Just learn all that you can so you can be in control as well as be informed of all your options. Here is a big cyber )))))HUG((((( and a feel better flower, now go eat a little chocolate or a treat that makes you smile.

Lana, thanx..that's soo very sweet! Yeh i am in between binging on loads of chocolate or bursting into tears...i've read Vliet's books..and many other..so i know a lot about PCOS...but i had NO symptoms of it...oh well! my doc still believes that the hairloss was caused by low E not PCOS...i am already taking 50mg of spiro, and spiro what's recommended for androgen problems with PCOS..my insulin is actually low, so i am not sure about metformin for insulin resistance. The unpleasant thing is that i am getting married in 2 months and then was planning on having babies...with today's diagnoses i am not sure how to proceed...my doc said that if i won't start ovulating, we'll try Clomid...but Vliet writes that Clomid may cause POD?! what gives?! and i know i can't get pregnant while taking spiro, so i am afraid to up the dose..between a baby and hair, i'd still pick having a child..but that probably means i have to let go of my hair...soo

tough! oh well..i guess it could be worse..Please, keep me posted about your progress with OOE? My doc said my endometrical lining is very, very thin...so i can go for months without any P, which is good...and he is ok with me staying at higher levels of E for now.. -J.Lana wrote: Oh - That is the absolute pits! Lana, thanx...*blows her nose*...i have a wonderful guy, who loves me no matter what, and who wants to marry me even bald and possibly infertile! and i should be happy...it's more of a shock i think...i am thinking that i can stay with spiro for as long as i know i am not ovulating...once i'll start ovulating, i'll ease off it..and will consider starting metformin...i'll skip P for now, and will only use E...hopefully it will last my hair for a while...so that when i'll have to quit supplementing with E, i'll still have something left on my head...Hairloss is such a nightmare! even if hair is just cosmetic, but it's just soo hard to let go of this vanity thing! -J.Lana wrote: , Chocolate, is there anything that it can't do? Well, maybe make those tears go away. Do you have a good family support system? Here is a cyber tissue, now blow and blot. Please do some reading up on androgen blockers and pregnancy!! You don't want to block hormones while pregnant-simply, you can't take those and. blockers while pregnant. And, if it were me, I would not take them while trying because sometimes we don't know that we are pregnant for a month or two down the line. *I did read this on the net on many sites w/regard to spiro and ald. and others...talk w/doc on that one... You are having a lot to cope with for someone who should be dancing on clouds and looking forward to her marriage in 2 months. I hope that you can

focus in on that, but I can sure understand all of your concerns. Hang in there, girl... Glad that the P level is down. You are in shock and I am sure that for the next few days you will go through emotions like a trucker has to go through 13 gears! I am so happy that you have such a sweetie-hold on and never let him go..I have had "mine" for 24 years!!!

We're gonna think positive on that fertility issue!!!!! Medical wonders happen daily and they can do some amazing things.

I know what you mean about the cosmetic thing...Now, I pray for strength and courage and for people to see me, deep inside me-my heart, not the surface-hopefully they will like what they see. If not..move on, who needs them.

I have set my hopes in the E and I sure hope that it helps. My mom went through the same thing and I was in my teens when it happened-I never knew just how bad she must have been hurting. My brother is almost bald. The derm says its all genetic..I think some of my problem is possibly genetic, but not all of it since it is so severe. Crud...now I need a cyber tissue....my hormones are so off that I cry at the smallest of things. Oh well, this is the hand that I was dealt...I guess I should go make dinner as the family is due home soon.

Try to have a restful weekend and FOCUS on your wedding-such a special time and you want to enjoy the preparation, okay??? Really, get lost in all of the fluff and fun for a while-take a vacation from the health c**p. Eat more chocolate-not too much! big hug,

Passes over the tissue box :) *HUGS*...Lana, i know how it feels to start crying at the drop of a needle...that's how my problems started...crying spells, anxiety..for a while i was sure i had some dreadful disease...hair was just the last drop...all the low E symptoms...i am feeling more stable on E..God, if not for E i'd be severely depressed by now! it's hard to focus on wedding..i haven't even picked out the person to do my hair *or what's going to be left from it by then*...Girl, we'll get through this!Lana wrote: - You are in shock and I am sure that for the next few days you will go through emotions like a trucker has to go through 13 gears! Hi ,

Read all your posts and I know your are feeling really frustrated. The fact that

the sono

showed your uterine lining as very thin shows that whatever E you are taking is

not

working (probably due to the spiro blocking the E). I have also heard from

various

compounding pharmacists that taking too much E turns off your E receptors. I

think for

now it is the spiro that is blocking the E. Have you ever thought of going off?

(maybe after

the wedding). I took no P this month and just got my period on day 29. The only

thing I

did differently this month was to put my patch close to the pubic area instead

of my rear

and I also took a little more E in the middle of my cycle. I think that all this

is a process of

some experimentation with your own body.

Karin, comment: Dr. Schwartz likes for women to come off E every

few months for a few days to give the receptors a rest and sort of

recharge their effectiveness. Personally, I am not willing to do this

yet as I am following the continuous E plan laid out by Redmond to

re=grow my hair. But, after it's well established this sounds like a

good idea related to the comment you made.
