Guest guest
I had severe eye pain too . . . It turned out that the prescription antihistamines I was taking (oral, inhaled AND eye drops) were causing me to dry out . . .. As if having breast implants doesn't cause enough drying! The pain was because, when my eyes dried out (this occur ed almost nightly when I was sleeping, or if I spent too long on the computer without using moisturizing drops) my eyelid was sticking to my eyeball, then tearing the cornea when my eye moved. Not a good situation. In fact, it can ruin your vision if it continues! It felt as though someone was sticking a stick in my eyes! I found that this was more likely to occur after exposure to airborne chemicals that I was sensitive to. The eye specialist had me use moisturizing eye drops during the day and an ointment in them at night (all over the counter). Later, I saw an allergist who determined that I was chemically sensitive, not allergic. All the antihistamines I was taking weren't doing anything! Still my eyes didn't get better until the eye doctor asked me to tell her EXACTLY what I was doing. . . What was happening is that, when I woke at night and my eyes were sore, I would put antihistamine drops in them . . . Wrong thing to do. After stopping the drops, using the moisturizer, and lubricant, AND wearing " bandage " (not correction lenses - to keep my eyelids off my corneas) contacts for six months, my eyes finally began healing. A couple other things I learned along the way . . . Not just any eye drop will do . . . I couldn't use eye drops with silicone in them! . . . AND the contacts, made of silicone, were beginning to aggravate my eyes just as my eyes began healing! I don't know if this applies to anyone else . . . but, if it does, hopefully it will save you some of the misery I experienced. Guest guest
Rogene, Thanks for the reply. My eyes aren't dry just very glassy, and bulging. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning.
