Guest guest
Lynda, I just had it checked a week ago. I know that even though your thyroid levels check out you can still need meds for the thyroid. Some of the 'better' doctors go by this protocol. I see a doctor tomorrow and I plan on bringing my blood work results for him to see.Lynda <coss@...> wrote: If you eyes are bulging, have your thyroid checked.LyndaAt 05:02 PM 7/25/2005, you wrote:>Hi Patty,>>My eyes are bloodshot, glassey and they appear to be bulging. Guest guest
Yes, but if it was your thyroid, it would show on the levels. It would be hyperactive, too much thyroid hormone. Guest guest
Lynda, It isn't showing on the levels as hyper or hypo but completely normal. Guest guest
Bulging eyes are a sign of hyperthyroidism...too much thyroid. Also known as Graves Disease. What are the symptoms of Graves' Disease? The most common symptoms of Grave's Disease, or thyroid over- stimulation include insomnia, irritability, weight loss without dieting, heat sensitivity, increased perspiration, fine or brittle hair, muscular weakness, eye changes, lighter menstrual flow, rapid heart beat, and hand tremors. Grave's Disease is the only kind of hyperthyroidism that is associated with inflammation of the eyes, swelling of the tissue around the eyes, and protrusion, or bulging, of the eyes. Some patients will develop lumpy reddish thickening of the skin in front of the shins called pretibial myxedema. This skin condition is usually painless. The symptoms of this disease can occur gradually or very suddenly and are sometimes confused with other medical problems. Women can have Grave's Disease and have no obvious symptoms at all. Guest guest
I would talk to your doctor, and if that is not enough, talk to an endocrinologist. I am not sure of all the things that can cause your symptoms. Lynda At 05:22 PM 7/25/2005, you wrote: >Lynda, > >It isn't showing on the levels as hyper or hypo but completely >normal. Guest guest
I suppose many things can cause problems, but would not start diagnosing myself. Have you had an MRI of the brain? Guest guest
Thanks. I just printed this e-mail out to add to the collection of stuff I'll be taking with me this morning. Beth S.
