I feel the same way but sometimes just getting away even of you can't do much while you are there helps to clear your mind and offers some relaxing. When I first was ill we would go to the beach for the weekend and I would stay in the hotel the whole time and maybe at night go lounge by the pool but it still made me feel good to get away from the house - I think that is good to do once in a while - it helps with the depression, etc.

I havn't been able to travel for many years. Last November we went

to CA to vist my dying grandmoter and took the kids to Disneyland.

The stress of it all sent me into a raging bronchitis with severe

diarrhea and overall flu like symtoms the entire time. I had to take

a bunch of over the counter medicines and force myself to have fun

with my kids at Disney. I know what you mean exactly! I have family

and friends who just have absolutely no concept of what it feels

like to try to go out and do something fun and end up feeling so

miserable you just want to crawl in a hole. I remember getting in a

fight with my sister-in-law who wanted us to go camping with her. My

girls were about 8 months and 20 months old at the time. I told her

she was asking too much to expect me to go camping with babies and

that there is no way I could handle it. It became an all out yelling

match with her stating " well if it were my children... " of course I

responded with " then do it with your own kids when you have them "

I haven't enjoyed a vacation in a long time. Funny though, I had a

great time up in Cleveland when I was there having my explant! I

felt terrific! But my husband had the flu : (

Though I doubt it will be that comforting to know ... there are many,

many women who share your painful situation ...

I remember when our Patty was so sick the idea of a trip was

impossible ...

Women are getting better ... but it's a slow process in most cases ...

You've got some wonderful women here who can help share what has

worked for them ...

Best to you,

Ilena

I haven't had one in a long time. I know of women who do, but they

just don't get the suffering involved. I am curious, am I the only

one with this in their life? Isn't it hard to hear about everyone

else's great summer vacation? My neighbors went away and asked me

where I was going and they looked at me funny for saying, " nowhere, I

am sick! "

Hi Al,

I can relate to what you are saying, many of us are too sick to travel

or can't afford to do much... I have been detoxing and adding

supplements to my new glutin free diet and that keeps me very busy,

but I have found positive changes! So hang in there!

I may not be able to go travel great distances, but after being

homebound for much of the time it seems like a vacation to just go out

for a ride and have a dinner, or go to a movie, or just sit in a park.

Or my bigest joy is seeing my grandkids smile.

Sometimes its the small things in life that really matter.

We need to find peace within ourselves as we come to terms with our

illness. And keep FAITH... God made us, HE can Heal us!

You will be enjoying vacations again! I am. Funny how Ihave

improved. We went to switzerland less than a year after explant and

I still felt slightly weird. Now I feel entirely normal unless I

get my tendons acting up! It will happen for you too!

HI, I have gone on three vacations this year! I had a great time in

orlando even though my tendon in my knee decided to act up

terribly. We went to washington dc and my muscles were acting up

and not that fun because of it. But went to dallas in may and had a

great time with plenty of energy and no pain. MOst of the time I

can count on feeling fine during trips. In fact, friday we are

going to six flags and hurricane harbor with my teen daughter and

her five friends and then sightseeiing the next day. I am expecting

to feel great. I know what you mean about the funds. I have spent

thousands towards getting well. And still do spend alot more than a

person who has never been ill. So be encouraged that you will feel

good enough to go on a vacation again.

That is the absolute truth! I remember when going to the nearest

Target department store made me feel like dying. I would get out of

there as fast as I could and head home to lie down. The idea of a

trip was certainly impossible.

But slowly things got better, and they will get better for you. Be

patient. Do little things to bring some cheer into your life. Find

a joyous hobby, make a new goal. Begin a new endeavor. Never lose

hope that you are going to have better days ahead. My hope and

faith is what kept me going.

Now I am back to life again! You all know how long it took

me...years...but it was so worth the effort. I never would have

dreamed in my wildest dreams that I would be healthy enough again to

travel halfway around the world on a two week trip to India, and a

grueling one at that. I survived 11 flights in 12 days to 7 cities,

and beat the diarrhea scourge. That's my God!

Ephesians 3:20

" Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that

we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be

glory... "

AMEN!
