Subject: RE: Center staffing

How good or bad are the staffing levels at your 911/dispatcher center?

I work for a center that deals with the handling of EMS and fire only. On the

other side of a masonary wall is the police communications center. On every

shift there are two police dispatchers and two of us handling the EMS and

fire calls. Our center is a separate company that is funded by our volunteer

fire companies. We have a total of about 31 employees, which breaks down into

five full timers (one being the supervisor), and twenty-five or so part time

employees. Most of us are certified through the state as telecommunicators.

Some of us are also certified emergency medical dispatchers.

Good or bad depends on how you look at it. We do the best we can and its

working somewhat.

Questions or comments??
