Guest guest
Andy, any history of high cholesterol or hypertension in your family..sometimes genetics trumps healthy eating. Hopefully it was just the sandwich and the tests performed.. Often the tests at screenings aren't as sensitive. But to be safe, do follow-ups. . Guest guest
Actually, I don't have any family history of either. I found out that it shouldn't matter what I eat before this type of test. Also, I checked my cholesterol results from less than 2 years ago and my total cholesterol from my lab results was only 176. I had my blood pressure retested several different times since yesterday morning. Once last night and twice today. The average is 116/73 which is in the optimal range. I had my total cholesterol redone this morning and today it is 175 which is in the desirable range and consistent with my test 2 years ago. It is my impression that yesterday was a " Health Scare Screening " instead of a wellness screening in my case. Everything is actually good as I expected it should be. In the future, I am going to skip these screenings and just rely on my periodic physicals with my doctor and official lab results. Guest guest
Andy, I get my cholesterol checked every year. My doctor insists that this test be a " fasting " test or it will not be accurate. Also, the only time that mine has been over the borderline high.....I had a cheeseburger and fries the night before.(6 weeks later with no changes in diet other than I didnt eat anything real fatty the day before, it was 204. I really think you should have the tests redone. BTW, my husband who is very fit, his blood pressure always reads high in the morning, perfectly fine any other time. Hope this makes you feel better.
