Guest guest
Hi Diane, Most anti-depressents made me lose weight before the implants but after getting them it was just the opposite. As far as bloodwork goes...I think that what you are having done is necessary and make sure they check your thyroid TSH, T3 and T4 but as far as having anything else checked, it would be best to ask another member as the other members are much more knowledgeable when it comes to that. Good Luck. Diane Myers <dlmyers1960@...> wrote: Hi Beth The zoloft actually made me lose weight which wasnt good. After the surgery in december where they replaced the implants I already started losing weight (10 lbs) then they put me on this zoloft and I lost 10 more. It scares me because I really cant afford to lose weight . The other problem that I do have with it is that it makes me not want to eat. I have never taken the prozac but I guess if the Zoloft stops working I would definately try it. It is sad that these implants cause all of these side effects isnt it, including more depression?? By the way, I go on friday to have labwork to see what they can find in my blood that has to do with the problems with the implants, any suggestions? I do know that they are running a ESR, sed rate, RA, ANA, CBC....... Thanks Diane"Beth S." <schaffe88@...> wrote: Hi Diane, Have you found that the zoloft has made you gain weight? I've had problems with that. The only antidepressents that have never caused that symptom was effexor and serzone. I was on serzone for a very long time. I think that is what caused the terrible problems with my liver. They have banned it. It was banned right around the time I was taken off of it. However, it was the best one I had taken. Mentally helped but obviously it was doing some massive damage to my insides. Since my liver enzimes (sorry, I can't spell) tested normally, I was unable to get into the class action law suit that they had against this drug. Before I got my implants, I was put on prozac. This was the first antidepressent that I had ever taken. I never felt so good in my life and thought that it just couldn't be possible for anyone to feel so good. I also made me lose about 15 pounds and I was able to work and concentrate like never before! It was truly amazing. It had been depressed all my life but didn't know it until it was properly treated. I stopped taking it after some time and still felt really good. Then I got my implants and had another bad experience and went back on it. The experience was totally different. Not only did it not help at all but I started to gain a lot of weight. The weight came off as soon as I stopped taking it. However, my implant weight of about 15 pounds did not. This was gained within 6 months of getting the implants.Diane Myers <dlmyers1960@...> wrote: Hi Dawn I too, was put on the effexor two years ago and had to wean myself off of it because of the side effects. Luckily I had a pharmacist tell me how to do it and told me to take it very slow. In fact it took approx 3 mos to get off of the effexor in very small increments. It was a horrible trip but it was much better to be off of it. I have had to take many antidepressants in my life, but this was the worst. I then began the SAM-E that the pharmacy sells (herbs) and it helped temporarily but then started having panic attacks etc and went into a deep depression and ended up on Zoloft. So far so good.....but just be very careful with the effexor and take yourself off of it VERY SLOWLY. Good Luck! Diane"Beth S." <schaffe88@...> wrote: Hi Dawn, Just wanted to make a comment on the Effexor. Kathy is definitely right about taking it slow getting off of the meds. I can only comment on the effexor since I was on it. It took me a good month or more and I will tell you that I felt horrible during this time. I was dizzy and more fatigued than normal. I went from 150 mg a day and cut back to 75mg. I did this for about two weeks until some of the symptoms went away. Then I started taking 75 mg's every other day and so on. This is not what the doctor recommended. If I had followed his advise I would have REALLY been sick. He thought that I could be off of them with minimal side effects within 3 weeks. Just not so for me. I've been treated for depression most of my life and had taken about every depression med there is only to find that it works for a while and then stops. At least that was my experience. After stopping the effexor completely, I became extremely depressed. I tried to fight it and it was really hard. I wish at that time that I had started taking herbals supplements. They seem to have helped with my depression. I'm not sure why they have helped because I'm not taking anything that should help with depression. I'm currently taking milk thistle, grape seed extract, olive leaf extract, magnesium and flax seed oil. I also have aloe vera juice for digestive problems but haven't need it because my IBS has cleared up quite a bit too. IBS that I have had my entire life. Diet never helped it but these herbals do and I just don't know why. I would recommend Kathy's suggestions as she has more experience in what to take as far as the supplements go. I just wanted to share with you my experience with effexor. Also if you feel depressed after getting off of it completely, I would talk to your doctor. I felt that after being off of it completely I was really a mess and that is when I attempted suicide. I had a lot of problems at the time and couldn't deal with it. I know that effexor definitely helped me deal better with problems. After being off of it for about a year now, I've gotta say that the depression is much better. mikat828 <mikat828@...> wrote: -DawnHi. You are on some really strong meds and when you come off of them you will need to do it slowly and carefully. Especially with the prednisone (would be best to have a doctor's advice on that) and effexor. Some people suffer strong withdrawal symptoms from effexor and xanax and the pain meds you are on. These meds are probably making you also even more brainfogged and fatigued. It would be really nice if you could find a good naturopathic doctor that could help you get off of these drugs while they work on helping to get your body healing. Since you said that your immune system is poor, have you thought about trying colostrom? It can help support your immune system. I find it to be a very good product. Also, trying some of the GArden of LIfe products may be of help. Their RM-10 should help with imflammation and be immune supportive. They also have a very good digestive enzyme product. For that matter so does Generation+. You can buy both at appleadayandbeyond.com. They should help you with your gastroparesis. I would defintiely get off that Mirolax drug. It is useless. I have dealt with gastroparesis and I do it naturally. Also the 2 sjogren's drugs sound like they could go as long as there are no withdrawal effects. Tell your current doctor you are no longer interested in being on drugs and you will not take any new ones unless you are clearly convinced of the need and you research it first. You need to be in the driver's seat not him. After all, he works for you, not the other way around. I won't go to doctors anymore that won't listen to me. There are those around who will work with you, but they are few and far between. It would be good to be working on getting your immune system built up a little prior to surgery so that you can avoid past problems. I really think a good colostrom supplement would help. I use 's GArden and I can give you the link if you like. I have used other brands but I like this best. I really think the sjogren's will go away as you get better after explant.
