Guest guest
Thanks Lea . . . We're now at 26 years and counting . .. . . --------------------------- At 02:54 PM 3/11/02 -0800, you wrote: PLEASE POST Dearest Ilena: Look what I found today. They knew this 22 years ago! This letter to the editor, " Shedding of Silicone Particles from Inflated Breast Implants, " in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, by Dr. A. Vargas, was published in August 1979. It follows. " Sir: Seven years ago we placed an inflatable prosthesis in a small breast. There was never any problem, but recently we exchanged the prosthesis because the patient wanted a larger size. On removal, we found spots like collections of sand on the surface of the implant; in some ways they resembled the spots made by fungi on slides stored in a humid place. The fibrous capsule, though thin, also had areas with the same characteristics. Another patient had a similar implantation of another brand* of inflatable prosthesis 5 years ago; she had had no problems, but wanted it exchanged for a larger size. On removal of the prosthesis we found the same kind of spots on the outer surface of the implant and in some areas of the fibrous capsule. The pathology findings on the two fibrous capsules were the same--lamellae of dense, fibrous tissue forming a capsule, with sticky particles on the inner surface. There was no malignancy. The concretions on the prostheses were examined in the chemistry laboratory at Javeriana University, and at the National University in Bogot·. The specimens contained inorganic salts, nitrogen compounds, and an inert substance which, on infrared spectroscopy, demonstrated the silicon-carbon bond. One wonders how many of the hundreds of thousands of breast implants that have been in place for years without any symptoms might show similar findings--perhaps from depolymerization or some other change? This is a rhetorical question to which I do not know the answer. Axel Vargas, M.D. Instituto Saint Michel Carrera 7a, No. 60-20 Bogot·, Columbia [sic] * The two prostheses were different brands, both well-known, widely-used, and made in the USA. " This sounds like something Dr. Blais has been saying for years, that is, that there were problems with these devices many years ago...but it was kept hidden by the manufacturers and unknown to anyone not reading the learned journals. Thank you for helping us to expose the truth. Love as always........Lea
Guest guest
Dear Lea, DOW isn't about to agree with you! . . . Never, never, never. Of course, they don't want to see anything that disagrees with their stance! Just keep persisting like you have! . . . You have the truth on your side - they can't beat that! I do hope you can reach a satisfactory settlement though . . . going to trial would be extremely stressful. As much as you'd like to get revenge through the only means that seems to matter to them (money), there's no amount of money that can make you whole again! I pray that God has just punishment for all those who have injured, and killed, so many women and children. Love, Rogene
Guest guest
Lea, You might borrow a suggestion from regarding Glutamine, N.A.C. and something else I can't remember right now. . . I recently started taking those two supplements and have seen a big difference in the amount of pain I'm experiencing. The more Glutamine I take, the better I feel! . . . I've had a shoulder that's been bothering me for at least a year . . . It really got bad when I was on the antineoplastic (cancer) medication. . . . But now I hardly notice it! As I understand it, they're basically enzymes the body uses to build muscle. Love, Rogene
Guest guest
Lea, The idea of poker is to make your opponent think you've got the best hand - to intimidate the other . . .. regardless of the cards you hold! . . . Don't let them intimidate you! You KNOW you have truth on your side! That's a Royal Flush, in my book! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Rogene/Lea, Rogene, I am so please that you have given it a try and that it is helping. The other supplement is Lipoic Acid, a very strong antioxidant which I think must work especially well with these two products as it is always recommended to take with them. I am not sure who, oh yes, Sis, who has had these products recommended to her recently after having some tests done through a Naturopath. Cochran has also been helping me sort out my supplements to improve my skin as well as my joints and she has also mentioned the importance of raising Glutahione levels. Have you heard of MSM. I hadn't, but it was recommended both by and Skinbology. It serves to help many problems and is especially good for relieving joint/bone pain apparently. This does seem to be such a huge factor in our symptoms. I don't think one woman in our group does not suffer with this problem. Its not expensive and widely available in the States. Will let you know how I get on with it. is sending me some. Rogene, I cannot think of anything else but Coruña at the moment. My Sister and I are so excited at the prospect of meeting you and your husband. We will have our pics taken together and post them. Guest guest
Glad you are seeing great results, Rogene! I bought some L-glutamine too. (It's an amino acid.) The other things I take are alpha lipoic acid and N-acetyl-cysteine. All good for detoxing and supporting the liver. I am really happy to say that since my root canal extraction, my knee pain is greatly relieved! Guest guest
Margie, Even when you are down, you can look up....I hope you are feeling stronger, finding hope. You have to have hope. There is a way to freedom if you keep looking for it, that much I know! PattyMargie Horan <margiehoran@...> wrote: Since 1996, I am also confused about the mgus symptoms, the mgus forum is no longer there. But when it was, alot of other people complained of simular symptoms, even though the oncolgy doc said there was no symptoms. I think I have been feeling worse, even though I try to take hard long walks several times a week. Our walks are even toxic, the spouse even complains if I can't walk long enough. Do you have the spine, back numbness and joint pains? Constant fevers, sleepless nights, every bone in my body cracks, even my skull hurts, I could go on, but this is all in my head, at least that is what my husband has always said. I am pushing a heavy cart up a very big mountain, just for it to come down me on the other side. I am just too tired for this anymore. I am getting to old to be scraping my face off the ground, over and over. IF people keep pushing me down, i might choose to stay down, its alot easier that way. Sorry for venting!
