Guest guest
Heidi (10) has just started wearing a bra, too. I wasn't sure how she'd like (or NOT like it) so I put them on her as soon as I noticed the tiniest change in her anatomy. We began the new school year in Sept. just matter of factly putting it on. She didn't resist at all at first, but now she does have her days when she will try to refuse it. If she's adamant, I make her at least wear an undershirt just so she'll remember that an article of clothing needs to be under her regular top. I started her with the one hook kind of bra, but she has a heck of a time trying to fasten the dumb things. She has been great about trying though, she wouldn't give up. We went on to pull over sports bras. These seem easier, but sometimes she will put it on upside down or backwards. I always take a peek to see if it's right before I send her off to school. And now she is actually blossoming, I'm glad she's already used to her bra. I do agree with Granny & , though, I hate the dang things. Do you get the comic strip " Crabby Roads " ? That old lady says her favorite bra is a sweatshirt! AMEN to that! B Mom to Heidi 10 DS, Caleb 9 NDA, Corrie 9 DS and Mae 4 DS
Guest guest
Oh one more thing on the bra issue...I tried for a month to help " learn " to hook it but it took her younger sister to teach me how and ultimately she taught in one quick morning. Because of the difficulty with motor skills it can be frustrating... helped Jen bend the material on the bra so that the curved part was exposed and easier to see...then she pulled the hooks over and hooked them. Honestly it made it so much easier...I know it sounds simple but " I " didn't think of it, I just kept trying to get her to " hook " it. Hope this helps someone else. Guest guest
I absolutely do not believe that one. When they are comfortable for you to wear, I suggest you wear them. Guest guest
Regardless of the bra you wear, make sure you have a good fit. . . Some sources say that most women wear the wrong bra. Some department stores have women trained to fit bras. Also, there is some thought that ill fitting bras contribute to breast cancer - that's pure speculation based on comparing women who wear bras with those who don't. I don't think wire would be the problem . . . That it rubs a sensitive area would. Guest guest
HI, That posting would have come from me. I wasn't told that I couldn't wear underwires but that I should stay away because the healing process could take as long as a year. You really don't want anything to interfere with the healing process. My surgeon told me that it could take up to a year to fully heal after surgery. A sports bra helps to mold them properly. I did not have a lift so if this information was given to me because I didn't have the lift, I don't know. I was only sharing what my PS told me. Also, when I had the implants put in, I was told to stay away from underwire bras. I don't remember for how long but I have heard that underwire bras with or without implants can cause such things as cancer. My sister had breast cancer. Her surgeon told her to try to not wear underwire after she had her surgery and chemo. It has been quite a while since she was diagnosed and is now completely cured. She is back to wearing underwires. I myself, before getting sick wore only underwire bras. I was only sharing what I was told and had heard from other people. I apologize for any misunderstanding. auw_bree <auw_bree@...> wrote: I heard someone say that you cant wear an underwire bra for a year after explant. Is that true? Guest guest
Many plastic surgeons have said underwires are not a problem unless they hurt. Guest guest
Hi Lynda, I guess like everything else, we have all heard so many different theories and each doctor has different protocol that they follow. Personally, I'm trying to stay away from them as long as possible. But that is just me. I still have such pains in my ribs that anything hurts when pushing up against them. I don't want to irritate them any more than they already are.
