Guest guest
Hi - funny you should ask. I have just today been the delighted recipient of a very flash juicer, Ariete brand (Italian) . A surprise birthday present from my family. I haven't made any juice yet but will let you know in a day or so how I get on. Guest guest
I'm sure you've seen the infomercials for the Juiceman juicer, it is very expensive, and the juiceman II is available in stores for about $80. I found a Hamilton Beach juicer at WalMart for $29 that I am very happy with. arjay wrote: > From: arjay <arjay@...> > > Hi All > > I've been thinking about trying the diet argrrrr anyway I'm not much of > a veg eater, fruit yes, but 5 servings of veg I can't do that. Guest guest
We have the Miracle Juicer. It cost about $100.00 less than The Juiceman here in Canada. We find juicing great; it even increases our energy levels. The only thing we don't like about it is the cleanup. But I don't really know if here are any juicers that could be easy to clean. rheumatic Re: juicers >From: Barbara Gray <barbara@...> > >Hi - funny you should ask. Guest guest
I agree. The Juiceman is a great juicer but I have an old clunker hand-me-down that I have already fried and had repaired. The motor actually started smoking. I had a sort of meltdown. But they just opened're up and cleaned it out and voila back in business. I use mine every day. I think it was originally $45.00 when the out-laws purchased it back about 4 years ago. Guest guest
The fruit gives you lots of fiber it's the anti-oxidants and vitamins, minerals etc. that you need from the vegetables. I'd say go for it. It's the best way to infuse live enzymes and food into your blood stream. Don't forget carrots. Even beta carotene pills are said to be a waste of money since you get much more from carrots. My favorite is carrot apple. approx. 3 or 4 carrots, peeled...I keep a pile in the fridge in water (filtered) so they are nice and cold as a liquid. I use cold granny smith apples, no seeds, but don't peel them. I find when the drink is cold it is even better tasting especially when you are new to it all. I would stay away from the popcorn. Very hard to digest. Ok as a snack. Don't sweat cleaning the machine with soap. A good rinse with hot water does the job and when you feel like it when you have the energy you can wash it with dishsoap. Sorry the diet stuff sucks but if you could see how well I am after how sick I was you'd jump on the bandwagon is a nanosecond. Bottoms up.... Guest guest
Many of us have been on regular meds for many years before finding Minocin. For myself, I spent eight years supressing my immune system before I decided to chuck the whole thing and found myself in remission on Minocin. Since I am not great at eating veggies, drinking a few and still getting the vitamins and minerals that way seemed like a nice idea. Plus, keeping my stomach in good shape after years of harsh meds is important. I about ruined my gut with all the pain meds I used to take. I have a friend that has had a serious disease and went to juicing. She has done extremely well and raves about it. I figured since I only like my veggies deep fried or covered with cheese sauce, this might be a low calorie alternative. I did go to a health food store and tried various vegetable juices. I wont say they were better than a milkshake, but they were OK.......and I'm hoping they will grow on me!!!! I will say...forget the wheatgrass, YUK!!! Bottoms up..... Guest guest
Hi icelandlady54! Geoff here. You asked: " I have been looking over the site for the beginning of the juicers line but I am unsure why some people are using it. Why are juicers such a good idea? [snip] Are there some foods I should avoid and some I should eat? " Juicing makes the nutrients more easily available to your body, a phenomenon known as " increased bioavailability. " In some cases, it makes available nutrients not normally available due to cooking of whatever nature, lack of cooking, e.g., carrots, issues related to shear volume (takes lots of eaten oranges to get all that Vitamin C), etc., like the Total cereal ad showing 50 bowls of competing cereals to get the same nutrient(s). Guest guest
Jen, Can't find your original post but I wanted to tell you that.... I have two juicers a Juiceman and a Breville. At this point I may be shopping for another one because the new Breville still makes frothy juice and I have to use cheese cloth to strain it every time to get the particles out. It juices really good but I don't know if there are other ones out there that don't froth as much. I'll let you know if I find a better one! Guest guest
Thank you! I'm thinking of getting the Vita-mix, it seems to be one of the best out there, from the research I've done so far. I'll let you know if I end up getting it or not. Jen In , " Dawn A " <daldre@y...> wrote: > Jen, > Can't find your original post but I wanted to tell you that.... Guest guest
Hi Jen, I just wanted to share a few thoughts on the juicers. I've had a number of them over the past 7 years and have done alot of research on them. Here are my thoughts... I first bought a Juiceman Jr. juicer. (Then moved up to the Juiceman II). It was great for fairly quick juicing, and easier than all the others as far as cleaning goes. The only drawback with the Juiceman is that it is a centrifugal type juicer, which is bad for the quality of the juice. The fast rotation of the spinner, as well as the cutting edges that create the juice, allow for an increased level of oxidation to occur. This is NOT good. Oxidation destroys vitamins and enzymes, just what we are after with good quality juice. Next, I bought a Green Life juicer, mainly for the superior quality of juice and to be able to juice wheatgrass. This works in a masticating manner, (twin gears) which does not expose the juice to too much oxygen. It also gets out more juice than a juiceman. The downside is the cost, (a couple hundred dollars at least) and the clean up. We left ours out on the counter so we would be more inclined to use it. It makes very good quality juice, and it is one I recommend. But it does have the drawbacks with the extra clean up. Finally, we bought the Vitamix. I bought this so that we could take advantage of getting all of the fruits and vegetables, including the fibers. We've created some fun smoothies with it. However, it is really nothing more than a high speed blender--we can still get pretty much the same results with our regular blender. But it does a great job of blending, and there are other things you can make with it, like ice cream, soups and butters. We are not using it as much as I thought we would. But in terms of cleanup, you can't get much easier than the Vitamix, and in terms of getting the whole fruits and veggies, it is great. Out of all three, I would say the greenPower juicer is our favorite, follwed by the Vitamix. But they do two entirely different things. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Geoff, I know I'm not answering your specific question.....but if you or anyone is interested in the Hummer of blenders, get a BlendTec. More expensive (though deals on 2nds are out there...I saved) but with its hp it will liquefy/chop absolutely anything and everything. If you opt to retain pulp and/or skin in your juices or load in nuts/ice, then this is the answer. It is also programmable for one-button convenience. Jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ -------------------------------------------- Hi Gang! Has anyone tried the Juiceman juicers? I've been thinking about it and the Magic Bullet Blender wondering if either one is good. (Juiceman: http://tinyurl.com/bdgv2 Bullet: http://tinyurl.com/drgsc) Thanks, Geoff
