Guest guest
Our program requires a 40g supplement in addition to a goal of another 20-40g PRO orally per day. Does every patient make that, no, but it is the goal that we have them shoot for. Some of the patients PRO needs are higher than that and we address that individually, but for the most part a total of 60-80g PRO/day. We have them start on that right away. When I meet with them prior to surgery I encourage them to purchase a PRO supplement ahead of time and start on it before the surgery in addition to their Multi-vitamin with Iron (chewable or liquid). Our patients leave here on a pureed diet so soup is never a regular part of their diet. If they feel nauseous we do encourage clear liquids or soups but that is temporary. Soups can be too easy to eat sometimes and we tell patients when they get started to avoid big chunky pieced soups, or creamed soups that have a lot of fat or sugar. Meds don't seem to be too much of an issue here for most patients. Most of the patients go home on a lot less meds than they came in here on. If our DM patients were not on insulin, they usually DC their oral DM meds right away. Most HTN meds are tapered off in a matter of weeks. As for fluids,.... if they are struggling to get anything down, we do have them choose fluids first, then the protein, then the fruits and vegetables while letting every patient know the goal is to get in all three. Maybe your surgeon is thinking amongst that line that he really wants to concentrate on the fluids first? I see a lot of patients able to consume all three in a day and do just fine so I would hate to see that as a rule for all patients. Hope that helps. R. R.D., L.D. The surgeon that I work with likes to put his patients on soup 3 times a day for the first two weeks after surgery. Obviously these pts are getting less than 10 grams of protein a day eating soup. He also does not encourage them to take their protein shakes until AFTER the first two weeks after surgery because he feels that they won't be able to work them in between meals, fluids, meds, etc. I disagree! From what I have learned in my clinical experience, the first few days/weeks are crucial after major surgery as pts are in a catabolic state. Any comments on this? Guest guest
Tess Hope this sounds right.....in a medicated fog this morning. Over-did yesterday. Everything sounds great!! As for the tummy hurting from eating that extra bite, I think you will learn the feel of your stomach so you will know when to stop. Remember, that bite you eat takes a little extra time to get to your stomach. I know you still have a way to go, but isn't great to get the news of loosing some weight with your last dr. visit. That kind of news is a great morale booster. It definitely starts to make everything worth while. I know you appreciate the support of our RA group and we are behind you 100%, but remember ..... You are doing this, you are truly the hero in your life and ours. Keep up the great work! Hugs in Ct.
Guest guest
It's now been exactly 2 weeks and I'm still feeling pretty good overall. The swelling in my breasts is completely gone and I am thrilled with my size. I never did experience any deflating, I'm wondering if that is because I had the lift. I have had a lot of soreness and pain in my breastbone, has anyone else had this? I started the fungal defense and have not been feeling as good since I started this. Last night I had insomnia accompanied by a horrible taste in my mouth. I'm assuming it was the fungal defense since I took 2 yesterday. I'm going to try to take three today, but will carefully monitor how I handle it. I also went back to work yesterday for the first time. There is a lot of stress associated with that, but I think after I am back for a week or so, I can relax into it. My internal shaking and muscle twitching are drastically reduced compared to the first week. The brain fog is better by far, but certainly not gone, especially not after a night of insomnia. My IBS and IC have been about 80% better, but I also attribute that to my change in diet and vitamins. Changing the diet completely is too difficult, so I am doing it slowly. I have almost totally gone organic in our fruits and veggies, but the meats we'd have to drive 30 miles to get organic so we will start doing that when we can afford to make the trip. I'm going to change from white flour products to organic spelt. I tried the gluten free, and my hat's off to those of you that do it, I couldn't handle it. I'm luckliy not a celiac, spelt should be a good second choice for me. I've not had any soda, except once to cure a bad headache after my first fungal defense pill. I think I'm doing pretty good with all of this, and I definitely see the difference it makes in how I feel. In spirit I am still pretty elated, but also being smacked down to reality. I forced myself not to think about the mundane things for the first week so that I could simply enjoy being implant free. Now I am facing past due mortgage and household bills with no money to pay them. The collection calls are coming in daily. It's very difficult to heal when you are bombarded by rude collectors! We are working our way out of this hole slowly but surely, eventually we wll be on top of things again. I just wanted to be able to enjoy the new me without interuption. I haven't gone shopping yet, but soon I will need new bras and tops since everything is pretty big now. I can't wait to try on the cute little Secret bras, just for fun even. I'm pretty much going to need an all new wardrobe. I'm losing a lot off of my middle too now that the bloating is mostly gone. Not to mention... I am excersizing again! I have spent at least 20 minutes a day dancing, and also about 30 minutes a day on Yoga and Pilates. I LOVE feeling good enough to just get up and dance! I think I missed that the most. I may even try to get in some dance classes for more structured dancing. Oh, and one more thing I missed... feeling sexy! I have actually wanted to be with my husband again. In my heart of course I always wanted him, but my body betrayed us. Now I am feeling good enough to make the first move! And he can't stop commenting on how " cute " my new breasts are. He loves them! I'll post my 2 week pictures tonight. Love,

Guest guest
Also the other reason i asked was because you mentioned in the e-mail that you stared taking the fungul defense and that you had not been feeling good since you started it. so maybe thats another reason i asked. Guest guest
Lana, you are asking some good questions. I have to take antibiotics and antifungal drugs constantly. I noticed that you had mentioned that there is silicon-dioxide in some antibiotics. I take Keflex and it does contain silicon-dioxide, I called my pharmacist and he told me that it will not hurt me because it goes through my digestive system. He also told me that we have been treating you with this drug for many years and it has worked. That day was the day that I could not breathe and I felt like I had a weight on my chest. That was two days ago and I'm starting to feel like a new person again. I'm taking Keflex, Losec and Nyastatin and this combination of drugs always works! Dr. Blais has told me that I will probably have to continue this combination of drugs forever...including the blood thinners. I think that he once said that it would either kill me or cure me!!! Sending love....Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` 2 weeks post-op >> >Date: Wed, 06 Jul 2005 14:34:49 -0000 >> > >> >It's now been exactly 2 weeks and I'm still feeling pretty good >> >overall.
