Guest guest Posted January 2, 2001 Report Share Posted January 2, 2001 Our organization currently uses some of the 29000 CPT codes for static splint fabrication. We are considering going to 97504 " orthotics fitting and training " for all splint fabrication and training... both static and dynamic. We are already using 97504 for dynamic splint fabrication and training. We are considering this for several reasons: 1) CCI edits say that the 29000 charge is a " component of " 97504, 2) 29000 is in the surgery section (which I know is a whole debate in itself :-)), and 3) the 97504 code is per 15 minutes and incorporates both the fitting and training of the splint/orthotic. Can anyone give me some concrete information/documentation to support or to not support this decision? Anyone know what Helene Fearon has recommended in her course (since I have not been able to attend yet.) Any help would be much appreciated.
