Hey I'm half a century old (and then some) now; > I've made it this far - kind of the " sink or swim " school of life > learning. ly, my young life sucked, but today it is good. I have > been on a life long journey of self discovery, seen many therapists, > and have read many self help books long before I knew about AS. ...................... and Helen, Amen sisters! I think when it comes to AS/NT relationships regardless of which sex carries which label the journey through life is largely on our own. My husband and I had never even heard of it until I started teaching ESL and began learning about ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc. One of the retired grade school teachers told me about it because she thought my husband's behaviors fit. She was right and it turned out other family members are AS as well. We had tried counseling for years with little result and friends and family just couldn't understand the challenges we were working to overcome. Greetings fellow alumni. I too have made it to the half century mark through 'the sink or swim' school seeking the truth through self help books and info on Autism. Greetings fellow alumni. Got the paper cuts to prove it. Life is most definitely better now. AS & NT. We are both survivors. Even if we disagree on this site at least we have each other. ~ K D
